Tritch or cobweb mould
    #23438797 - 07/13/16 07:17 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Hi this is only my second grow.  I birthed Dunk and Rolled BRF cakes.  This growth had covered the verm in the last couple days (which is a pity as I have good pinning where it is not overlaid.

Is it a contaminate cobweb mould? or tritch, I noticed it is completely white, there is one bit that has some creamy colour to it but that is where I picked up the first cake and kicked it out of my fruiting chamber so I dont know if I bruised it or it is going to turn green or some other funky colour soon.

Sadly all my cakes are showing it to some degree.

Neither trich or cobweb mold, IMO. I think you're fine.

The periphery of the growth looks sort of gray, I can't really tell....

Sorry the photos are not that great.  It is all white at the edges there is one bit that is a little cream in colour but I think it is where I picked up the cake and a bit of foil or my nasty fingers touched it.  I have it on more than one cake. At first i thought it was mycelium but is growing quickly.

I was thinking Tomentose Mycelium overlay substrate colonization, but like that is 48hrs of growth so it is growing fast?

I had one jar start to pin, so I birthed all the jars all fully colonized but consolidation from 3 to 7 days depending on the jar. All have pinned and started to fruiting 2-3 days after birthing.

Cubensis doesn't have overlay. That is linear bacteria. Or rather the mycelium reacting to it. Nothing to worry about yet. Just watch out for unwanted colors.
