Make sure there are 1/4" holes 2" apart in a grid pattern on all 6 sides, in the lid and bottom of the chamber too, very important. Also elivated off the surface it's sitting on so air can flow through the bottom holes. Ditch the hygrometer, other than being not accurate it's useless to monitor the RH of the chamber. If it's built correctly the RH will fluctuate somewhere between 50 & 80% but the RH that matters is on the microclimate of the surface of the cakes and you can't measure it. It is achieved by misting until the cakes glisten with fine beads of moisture, repeat when they have evaporated. Use a flashlight to better see the fine beads.
You could probably use another couple inches of perlite as well.

Holes on the bottom? And on the top? What about perlite escaping from the bottom

It won't fall out, the bottom holes are most likely the most important, air comes in through the bottom and the damp perlite, without them the perlite dosen't work as well. Basic principles of SGFC Build exactly to spec for best results

Haha I'm alil more cofident after reading that. Gotta clean up the big mess I made in the process of getting holes in the bottom. I definitely have a good understanding of the airflow and the holes now

For sure I had 8 came colonize in less than 2 weeks they have been in consolidation for a week tomorrow I'm gonna give them a few more days for safety. Just outta curious about misting the cakes after the dunk and roll. I plan to do it just like rr showed in the video 30 minutes after but I'm confused on misting the cakes after do I just most the perlite or the cakes as well?

Kinda what I thought so my cakes look like nothing could take them over right now and from what I read that's the point of consolidation do you think it's safe to birth them? They have been white all over for six days a week makes tomorrow and like I said the colonized quicker than time iv seen on here I could call it two weeks but it was like 10-12 days the 2 day difference between the first and last to 100%

If they finished colonizing a week ago birth them. It's no safer to leave them longer and less than ideal if you leave them too long.

Don't forget to dunk those cakes!!!!
Any one agree that I need more perlite in there and wow my first time working with cakes or anything like this. They were smaller and lighter than I imagined

Follow the tek. It's that simple. You are not following it (e.g., your FC needs to be elevated with holes on the bottom as well).
The SGFC works off of pressure gradients, induced primarily by the wet perlite/ventilation on the bottom.

I followed the pf tek method for brf jars added the dunk and roll tek I'm if that's an added step and then was building my chamber some one already mentioned the holes at the bottom And told me why it was important.

well what do baby and mama think? is that SGFC to spec? 1/4" holes every 2" all 6 sides? Looks a bit off.
you also need more perlite and can take the hygrometer out of it. It's useless.

you may be okay, but you've gotta keep up on the misting.
perlite is just a vehicle to hold surface tension moisture. The holes at the bottom of the tub are there to allow airflow through the perlite to increase your surface humidity levels; what you are looking for on successful cakes.

ok dude. here's what i'd say: double your level of wetted perlite, and you may be good.

Making cakes is easy why does the fruiting chamber have to be so difficult. Well not so difficult lol to tell you the truth it took me 3 sets of jars to get the cakes down 8/8 on the third set no pc

Lol yeah I'm just surprised at how many supplies I'm going through all out of pure stupidity. Trial and error is how I learn lol if only drilled holes in two totes hopefully just like the jars third time is a charm imma destroy that one and make one as close to the specs as possible or maybe I should just put more perlite in that one. Idk I have only 16 hours till I take the first 4 cakes out of a dunk. I'm gonna dunk my other 4 tomorrow a day apart 2 different strains that will be in 2 rows of 4. Bad idea?

Not only can you mix them but you could even mix the spores together and it would make 0% difference.
They're not strains they're varieties. And they're all just cubensis. They have 0 idea they're named differently than some other spores.
If you grow from spores you have 100s of strains in a single grow. Some strong some weak, hence very average results using spore inoculation.

Cubes can be fruited with any other cubes no problem

So should I use this chamber or should I sou me the perlite in my old one. Re those are 1/4 inch holes spaced as close to 2 inches apart as My eyes could make them. Didn't wanna draw lines all over my box lol.
