Hi... ive been working sparingly in setting up a mushroom lab.... im closer to complete my goal.
Right now im working on the flow hood.... i have the box already done, just need to install my filter...
the filter fits snugly in there...as you can see.. is just that im unsure how to fix it properly... since all the filter sides have a rail trype thing i cannot glue it...
i think i will use some screws... on the rail edges...
anyway y got my blower fan with the air exhaust facing 90ยบ upwards... so the blower has to be underside of the box. I did this on purpuse because i want to have both the flow box and the blower fixed in some steel structure (like a bench) so its a whole piece of furniture, not only a wooden box...
but i dont know if i should integrate the working area to the whole thing like real flow hoods have the enclosed area... making a huge thing 1 x 1.27 meter piece or just make the structure with no work area and just place a table in front of it

hey air dog!
I built my hood just like yours. the filter is not glued in. I have it framed in with wooden trim that is screwed in tightly against the weather stripping along the filter perimeter. it doesn't have to be thin or trim, it can be the same wood u used for the box.

I have seen some designs where they suggest making the frame one rectangular piece I guess to avoid possible leaks. Mine was supposed to have 4pieces, one per side, but I cut it wrong, so on the left side, the frame piece is split. I do have a minor air leak there on the side, but it hasn't caused any problems.

as far as building the "hood" part of it, I'd say do it if your hood will be in a place thats not that clean. mine is in a small spare bedroom, maybe 8x10' or a little bigger, so I opted to not build it. The door stays closed and Im the only one that goes in there. It has old carpet(i cleaned it though when I moved in) and I keep the window open about 6"at all times, so it's not necessarily a "clean room" but its good enough for me. if it was in my basement or a room with more activity I'd probably want to build one.
-------------------- A few thoughts on cultivation MICROBIAL HUSBANDRY!!!! The whole is greater than the sum of its parts
