Mushrooms growing at rather uneven rate
    #23436914 - 07/13/16 03:53 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Sorry for such a very noobie question.

I've just started fruiting. One mushroom has shot up, his gill veil has stripped (What's the proper term) and he looks not far off mature.  A few others are smaller, but have the colours and attributes of mature shroomies, but longer to grow, their veils have also stripped. Then there are still lots of small pins.

Should all the mushrooms be growing at relatively the same pace?

I'm scared that, while waiting for the currently small ones to grow and mature, the large ones will...get old and die?

As you can (I'm afraid not too clearly) here, some are almost mature, others are far off

Pick them as they are ready. With multispore you gonna get what you get, alot of genetics in there so

As the veil starts to drop, as your biggest mushrooms have done already.

Multispore is well.. longer subject. Basically that is what you are using, tons of different genetics in it so you cant possibly know if you are going to get big mushrooms, small mushrooms, great pinsets or non at all..
That's where cloning and such comes in, you grow out a cluster, take a clone and isolate, you grow out a potent mushroom, you clone it and isolate etc etc.

That cake would have produced a lot more evenly if it was rolled in verm after the dunk.

so will all spore syringes be possibly multi-spore?

Thanks mate.

Also, for storage. I plan on making a tincture out of them. Would it be sensible to place, as they mature, the mushrooms in some high-proof ethanol (Or even ISO, and evap off totally to be left with some sort of psylo-sludge?)

and leave that for however long, until all mushrooms are mature, adding bit by bit?

Do you understand?

All spore syringes are MS, yes

Storage should be by dehydration and airtight bags/made into tea and frozen, can also use those ehhhr what are they called.. vacuum packer?

I have no clue about using alcohol to store in, never read anything about that sort of stuff

And just as inocule pointed out, roll the cakes in verm next time/next dunk

Oh fair, I did not think rolling in verm for first flish was a thing, thought only rolled in verm fr 2nd/third flushes.

Dunked? What do you mean?

And fair, could I just dehydrate and freeze? As I said I plan on making an extract/tincture.

You're not the first person I've seen say this.. where did this info come from? Pf teks I've seen always say 1 week consolidation followed by dunking in water for 24 hours, and rolling them in verm. Never have I seen 2nd flush only, which makes no sense because at that point you're giving all the contamination spores from the first flush a nice place to germinate.

You could just dehydrate them and store them in a cool dark place. Preferably air tight. I'd think about making tea out of it. Really don't think you should waste your first products on a tincture. Honestly I'd just eat them straight up. Or lemon tek it. You'll get more bang for your buck.

Okay cheers mate, freezing would not harm them at all though, would it?  Also, best way to dehydrate without a fan?

Freezing will harm them if they have even a tiny amount of water still left in them.  They have to be absolutely 100% dry before being subjected to freezing conditions or they're basically ruined.

If you don't have a proper means of drying (dehydrator) and want to store long term I would make tea from them fresh and freeze it.

What about oven drying?

And fair, ever read/heard of anyone reducing tea to small doses, or even reducing it totally, to a goo/crystal/powder?

What were you reading that led you do this?  Even the ancient PF tek floating around says to dunk.  Did you even consolidate for a week after full colonization?

Not... really.  If they're dry they don't need the fridge or the freezer, if they not dry, neither are going to help much anyway.

Yes, an oven can work with the door open and a fan blowing in. You want heat + moving air.
After cracker dry just store air tight.
I have never heard of anyone having good success with goo/ extracts. Munchauzen had a good Idea of using a pollen press to press down dry matter into small over 1 gram disks. That along with finding a potent isolate/clone is one of the best ways I've heard to have the most bang in the smallest package.

what seems to be the downside to these goos/resins?

Not sure exactly, my guess is most of the actives are oxidized during reduction. Not saying it couldn't be done somehow and if someone has I'd like to hear about it, but I remember a few ppl trying and they said it wasn't that great.
