Temp Question
    #2343611 - 02/16/04 09:59 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

I read that right after innoculation shrooms should be in a dark place beween the temps of 72-80 not to exceed 80f. Now, Does a temp difference of2 or 3 degrees matter that much? Would if its at say 68-69? Thanks for the help.

86 degrees is 'optimal' temp I hear.

86 will get you the best growth and then for fruiting put them 70-75

If you are talking cubies, then incubate in total darkness @ 86F. Try to keep it around 80 at minimum.

You will get germination and growth at 80F, albeit slower than optimal. Go with 84-86F and you will be happy you did.

Keep in mind - the idea is to get the mycelium colony established as quickly as possible.

So, all of you say MUCH warmer. Would it work to put about an inch of 85 degree water in a bowl or something than put the jar in it, and keep the water warm?

Ide use a double box incubator, you get 2 of those rubbermaids and put water in one and an aquarium heater, and set the other one inside and use the heater to control the heat of the water in turn controlling the head of the 2nd box, works great!

Yea it seems like that would work, but how would you keep the water constantly at 85 degreez?

Either a water heater or constantly changing out the water would work I beleive.

The heaters have built-in thermostats.

I think in the long run an incubation box would be ideal and most simple to maintain, just my opinion but that doesnt mean much really.....

I believe it is enviroment temp is the goal, not water temp, basically you want the substance to be ~86 degrees. But I could be wrong, 86degrees enviroment temp is ideal.

Ok, to just switch it up a little bit, is it OK to have it at 68-70? I mean will it still grow? I dont care if it takes longer, just a general question. THanks.

alright but your trying to get the temp up to 86... which is no where near your current 68... if you set the heater to about 4 degrees higher the inner environment should be down around 86 thats my guess anyway...

Alright, so I have been trying to keep my shrooms warm, just having trouble, so I have benn putting it in a dark box with a blanket around it, and then putting a warm light over it. Hopefully this works.
