ID Please- Western Australia
    #23435688 - 07/12/16 06:17 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Hello.
Found a bunch of these while taking the dogs for a bush walk near or home.
They were near the side of the footpath.
I know its the season for Psilocybe subaeruginosa and was wondering if this is what they are.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Habitat:
Mulchy soil and leaf litter. On the side of a footpath on a bush track. Found near fallen logs as well as clumps of grass tuffs.

Gills:
Brown/ fawn.

Stem:
Think stem on mature caps. Brown near cap, whiter as it gets to root.

Cap:
Small nipple noticed on some. Cap gets irregular and wavey as it matures.

Spore print color:
Doing the spore print now. Started last night after harvest. Just posting to see if someone knows exactly what it is without the spore print

Bruising:
Couldn't see any bruising. Black if anything.

Is that the bruising talked about?

Those are Gymnopilus allantopus which is pretty much the only inactive Gym species in WA other than G. junonious, like doctorghosty said they're definitely inactive.

They look like they were found in woodchips. You won't usually find the active types growing from woodchips. This species is quite easy to ID just from the cap which is quite distinctive and different to all the active ones.

Dang it.

Shame, cause there was heaps of them too.

Back to the hunt.

Thank you
