Simethicone for Gas

Hey All,
A friend of mine tripped recently and said that simethicone helped their experience. In their log they stated, "Gas has been a very interesting symptom. I would attribute 65% of my body's negative feelings during the trip to gas".
This was their first time experiencing mushrooms but they have a degree in psychology and I trust them in their knowledge in psychopharmacology.
I saw that this was mentioned briefly in a thread but thought it deserved its own.

I have never experienced gas from mushrooms personally but they do make me nauseous sometimes.
How many did this person eat and had they eaten any recent food?

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

At 11:30am they took .6g of ground mushrooms with a little bit of kefir (basically yogurt). They had eaten nothing else since dinner the night before. At some point they started eating watermelon but the feeling of nausea and gas was present beforehand.

Has this person eaten kiefer much before? How were the ground mushrooms consumed? Just mixed in or chased with the kiefer?
.6 seems like a small amount especially if ground to cause much discomfort on its own but you never know

I get gas on shrooms and LSA. they make my stomach hurt during the come up and the gas comes after the come up so i think that serotonin receptors in the gut are being activated which causes muscle tension in the gut which traps the gas in. Once the tense come up is over the trapped gas releases. That is my theory which makes sense because serotonin effects the muscles in the GI tract which is why you get nausea.

Why would grinding effect it?
Are you saying the mushrooms themselves cause the gas because if that were true then why wouldnt all or most mushrooms cause gasand not one that also just happens to be psychoactive? I think it is an effect of the psilo(cy)bin.

Grinding it helps speed up it being processed in the stomach I would imagine.
I am saying processing the mushrooms could be contributing to the gas.
One of the few times I threw up from mushrooms there were undigested whole shrooms visible which had been probably contributing to the nausea I felt.
You could be right about it being mainly if not entirely serotonin related though

I think Simethicone does help pretty well with gas. I have issues not being able to pass gas easily, kinda have to struggle and find the right position for the gas to travel out, but i find Simethicone helps a good bit. I haven't tried it to see if it'd relieve some of the stomach discomfort during a Psychedelic experience, but i can see it possibly helping.

There are two reasons that mushrooms cause gastrointestinal discomfort. One is that the chitin in their cells is difficult to digest and the other is that they affect the serotonin system in the gut.
The first can be eliminated by making a tea, and what many people find works best for the second is lemon essential oil.

I've actually been using Lemon EO, does seem to help pretty well, but ime with Harmalas/Ayahuasca, the Lemon EO is alright but kinda detracts away from the experience a bit. I mean when the right dosage of Lemon EO is taken, it's alright, but i've definitely gotta work with it more.

Simethicone does work very well.
Many people don't have chitinase enzyme in their body. Or at least enough to avoid producing gas. Can try to find that supplement or use an extraction Tek like Lemon.
Edit: Not sure if that enzyme is on the market yet. Only see beta-glucans
