Phallus indusiatus(veiled lady) - "print" - experienced cultivator wanted
    #23433114 - 07/11/16 08:16 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Phallus indusiatus

It's edible, medicinal and I have several "spore prints", they don't make print in the traditional sense but I have the spore tissue anyhow and I'm willing to mail it to someone who wants to grow it, and share their results on the shroomery.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phallus_indusiatus

I do not think it has potential as a commercial mushroom for money making purposes, this would be for novelty or medicinal research only.

Besides the information on the wiki, I can tell you that this mushroom was grown(unintentionally) from a mound of large woodchips mixed with soil in a very rainy and humid environment(tropical rainforest), it took many months for the wood to break down and produce this fruit.  This was a volunteer fruiting.

I have one or perhaps two varieties, one is P. multicolor, which looks exactly like the kind in the photo on the wiki page.  The other
has a pinkish cap, but I can't be sure which spores are which, I can't be sure if the phenotypes aren't due to environmental factors or if they are different strains.  The pink one is particularly rare and is only believed to be found on one of the Hawaiian islands.

The cap tissue, creates a kind of 'muddy', spore laden sticky substance.  I have the dried caps with this mud.  The spores are probably very highly contaminated and it would take an experienced cultivator to clean this up on agar.

The mushrooms go from the egg stage to fully developed fruit overnight, the stems are hollow so the mushroom does not weigh much, thus
the comment about not being a commercially viable item.

They are very beautiful, the smell is very unusual, I have no way to describe it and nothing to compare it to, I would not call it pleasant or unpleasant, just odd and interesting.  The smell is strong.

Yea, anyhow I could mail a small tissue sample to someone, prints are 6 months old?

There is a member here who has a grow log of some phallus or stink horns. He's from Russia and would probably be very interested in growing this.

I saw a video on Youtube where they were growing this, I can't find it though.  I had no idea what they were but I was very curious as to why anyone would grow stinkhorns.
