Safe to use? Unused sub-

Ok so if you look at my other threads you'll see I've got a small group of cakes a couple different varieties. My question is can you use old substrate if it wasn't refrigerated or frozen after I put it away last time I used it. I bought it premade- hpoo and coir mostly. So is there a tek or direction someone could point me? I know sterilizing it in my pc isn't the answer. I don't know that throwing it away is either though. Any help would be appreciated. The search engine gave me limited answers.

I would say as a safe guess, that you had hpoo given to you and you didn't use it within the first few days, get rid of that stuff asap. Only sounds like bad news to me.

I would not re-pasteurize hpoo, sterilize it and use it for bottle grows or something. Coir doesn't even need pasteurization so just.. you know... heat it up real good first. Boiling point is good.

Ok, but there's no point pasteurizing a pre-pasteurized sub. Unless OP were to add Hpoo to this pre-pasteurized sub, there'd be no reason to do this, as the beneficial bacteria have lost their hold (undoubtedly) by now. His best option is sterilized in-vitro grows, I'm quite sure.

Oh okay, you're the expert. I'll just use all the time I've saved not pasteurizing coir to think about what I'm doing wrong.

I think you know full well you don't have to tell me that. "I don't like what people think about me so I'm going to make it so nobody can say what they think about me, that way I can continue spouting off stupid shit to my heart's content, and I still might trick some noobs into believing it"

please do us a favor and boil your hpoo substrate. then get back to us with pictures of your monotub.

or better yet, re-pasteurize a pasteurized poo sub. You'll find it doesn't work so well; similar results both ways.

I have read your posts, way too many of them. I remember you from last time around here, kinda melty back then too without any ability to back up your bad info or even get a wiki page right. Just try 1 lousy time to "fuck up" your pasteurization on coir and stop telling noobs "not pasteurizing coir properly" is a reason for mold. its not.

Not having a college degree in this economic climate is frankly a fucking badge of honor. Congrats, you didn't bite the bait and ruin your life with student loan debt, have a medal.

are you refering to 130f killing mold spores or 130F being "enough" for coir? Because yes those are both true.
I still dont understand the hypocrite part... because I say coir dont need pasteurization? but manure does? That's races!

He can't. Re-pasteurizing is stupid and he shouldn't do it, so instead let's infuse the thread with a little reason. If the poo and coir are mixed, sterilize the whole lot of it in jars with grain and do bottle grows. If the coir is separate, sterilize or heat-treat in whatever way you want, and then proceed to use it in whatever way you want, and just use the poo for bottle grows.

The point of pasteurization is leaving the beneficial organisms in the poo alive right? If those are dead by now or dead after/if I sterilize it- it'll serve basically the same purpose as cvg would right? With hpoo and having let it sit for a couple months I figured it would be either be junk or usable like cvg. Really just unsure if using it would result in slop since it wasn't frozen. At this point this is just for future reference and other guys that might end up in my position. I remembered I had a 3 pack of coir bricks and mixed up some cvg

Poo does not ever become like CVG. If the beneficial microbes die and you hydrate it and put it in a tub, it will grow mold.
