Huge Pleurotus tuber-regium stones, what should I do with these??

So, I have a couple SSD blocks that I inoculated with 1qt of Pleurotus tuber-regium spawn(WBS I think) each. Each block has one small golfball sized stone on the side by the bottom of the bag. But then each block also has a stone on the top surface of the block and these stones are fucking massive! Probably bigger than softballs...
I think the bags are over a year old, I will have to double check later tonight.
I was planning on cutting open the bag and pulling the top bigass stones off and casing the top layer to fruit the blocks.
But, what should I do with these huge stones? Anyone ever tried to cook the big ones? The fruitbodies and stones are edible, I have eaten young stones from grain jars. They have a meaty yet crumbly texture. I think these big stones may be significantly tougher, they sure feel harder through the bag. I read somewhere that African tribes used the big stones as the head of clubs after they dried them out. I suppose making a club would be fun..
This article here seems to indicate that I could harvest the stones and then fruit the stones themselves, probably in a SGFC, and mushrooms will grow from the stone itself. http://www.jstor.org/stable/3758652?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents
I read somewhere a while back that the stones can be harvested and replanted elsewhere as well and mushrooms will grow off the burried tuber..
While reading this article the title gave me an idea of cutting a tuber up into strips like french fries and deep frying them: http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/jf010228l
I suppose I could make a tincture out of the stones too.
What would you guys do with these big stones?
I think I'm gonna slice one up and make tuber fries out of it. That sounds pretty awesome.
I'll post pics later when I get home.

this is so badass man, I hadn't come across this oyster-tuber strain. I say cooking one or two of the stones is just and necessary! it'd be cool if you tried getting some fruits of the tubers, seems pretty straightforward since the tuber is where the mushroom concentrates a lot of it's energy at. I'm wondering if replanting them would work with other sclerotia producing mushrooms or if this is just an isolated case?
