To much light?
    #2343184 - 02/16/04 10:12 PM (13 years, 9 days ago)

I was wondering if its possible to have to much light, AFOAF has a 24" florecent mounted inside of his fruiting chamber running 24 hours a day, should it be on a timer or will it work just fine how it is?

It will work but they like a lite cycle like 12 on and 12 off
when you wake up turn it on and before you fall asleep turn it off

Would it effect growth/fruiting cycle? I know in the cannabis family it requires a diff cycle to trigger fruiting..

Thanks

If the cycle varies every day would that effect it too?

mushrooms don't have a light cycle...all they need the light for is to initiate pinning...12/12 cycles arne't needed...you could leave the light on for an hour and leave it off for the rest of the day. it doesn't matter
mushrooms arne't pot.

I know, but I was wondering if there was any negative effects by leaving it on, also, they cakes where just put into the chamber, would it requir more than an hour to trigger the pinning?

the only adverse effects could be the heat from the light drying out the cakes....you don't need anymore than an hour or two of light to innitiate pinning. alot of strains will even start to pin in the dark...pinnning is a natural responce and the mushrooms want to do it.

light likes to create a greenhouse in your container. if your system gets ambient light forget about the fluro. if no ambient light is available then dont keep the light on to long it, will heat everything up to much. to much heat will prevent pinning, allow green mold to grow, and worst kill the little guys.
