Tossing bad cakes outside
    #23428978 - 07/10/16 10:51 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Ill be tossing a whole grow outside. Maybe itll fruit...

1 I have some shaded areas under pine trees where other non-actiive mushrooms grow naturally - theres a ton of them!

2 I have another shaded area under some other pine trees - identical to the first except few to no other mushrooms growing.

3 I also have an area with less shade where a full grown pine tree was knocked down by heavy winds a few months ago. This area is more out in the open where foot traffic is more likely, though I certainly wouldnt call it crowded by any means.

4 I also have many shaded areas of denser, though traversable foliage: small trees, large weeds, etc.

Which of these aereas is best? Why?

Im thinking 2 and then 1 as my best two options. But Im not sure...I could reason that area 1 wouldnt work because the existing, natural myc would not let new myc into their territory. Or I could reason the other way - that area 1 would be great because mycs love other mycs...or at least work together...what do you guys think?

Anywhere you want works lol! Yes preferably shady. Pine trees make the ground more acidic. So acidic grass can't even grow. I'm not sure how this effects the mushrooms though, because cubensis actually likes it more acidic.

Try both areas and experiment?

Make sure you water them often. Cakes tend to dry out and get rock hard in my experience.

I remember reading somewhere that they like shade and pine needles.

Itll be awesome if they fruit, but...
