What have we here?
    #23429136 - 07/10/16 12:04 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Habitat:
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.

NC, in the grass. I have a spent substrate patch about 100-150ft from the area, which have had cubes grow, and drop spores a few times.

Here are how some look:

(My fiance twist and pulled this before i told her to leave it for me to cut up, to leave the bottom. Luckily there are very many here)

And then these are right beside the previous:

Huge!

Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

These are very dense. This is right after i cut it:

and this is about 15mins later:

I know must cubes will bruise blue, but it is worth noting that even in my spent patch, I will get definite, 100% for certain, cubes, and when i try to bruise them, they just wont bruise blue. they just sorta stay the same stem color, except a little darker. Kinda like this one, but this one is a little more purple-y red.

Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Above

Spore print color:
Very important!

Havent taken a print, yet.

Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Above

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

I mean, they smell just like fresh mushrooms.

Thanks everyone! Have a happy day! :peace:

EDIT - found another one, that was very nearby, when i went to look again. This one is so big:

but now I am almost positive that these are not cubes. at least not the white, big ones. Possibly some Amanita sp?

The white ones feel a little more spongy than cubes. Also, the veil(or maybe just part of the gills) was on the ground beside that one, and was really weird. It was much thicker than other cubes ive seen. Thicker and more tough, where cubes are usually super easy to tear.

So i have no clue what they are haha.

Those sure look like Chlorophyllum molybdites, the mushroom that causes more poisonings than any other. Try making a spore print. It should come out greenish.

Happy mushrooming!
