Hey everyone – just thought y’all would be interested in a follow up. I did go to String Cheese at Red Rocks this weekend (highly recommended) and went ahead and took that big ol’ strip of that strong WoW I had been contemplating. Probably 2.5 hits? Here are some comments for future readers: - The comeup was actually better/easier. I had a few drinks prior to dosing, which helps me anxiety-wise, but I think the biggest thing is that there was no real comeup, it was like instantly being shot into space. As soon as it hit me (about 15 minutes), I was tripping. No looking back. This sounds like it would be worse than a more gradual, prolonged comeup, but, at least in this case, it was way better.
- Really heavy trip. We dosed at 6:15, show started probably around 7:45, and the whole first set I was gone… just gone. The pieces started coming back together during the second set around maybe 10:00pm.
- During the meat of the trip, I was having trouble conversing, both understanding and stringing words together. If I reeeeally paid attention, I could follow a conversation, but it was haaard. Putting words together was also a struggle – majorly tongue-tied!
- I definitely hit the point where I was starting to lose a bit of myself. It’s like my existence faded into the background a bit. Certainly not ego death, but I felt almost like a stripped-down version of myself. There was a point where I felt like I was gaining some insight into death or what death might be like. Hard to put words to that.
- Some interesting “extra-dimensional” effects. Closed-eye visuals largely left the realm of patterns and kaleidoscopes, and transitioned more to realistic visionary “dreamscapes”. There was a point where, as best as I can explain it, I was rapidly “phasing” back and forth between consensus reality and these dreamscapes, even with eyes open. When I’d open my eyes from a period of having them closed, the CEVs would persist for a while, everything morphing, twirling, waving, and melting. Pretty amazing. Somehow none of this was scary, but pretty damn intense.
- I’ve complained in the past about the come-up feeling too strong, but then feeling like hours 4-8 are too weak. Not in this case. Some of the ego-loss and extra dimensional stuff did fade a bit by hour 4-6, but all the way through hour 10, I’d guess, I was tripping HARD.
- It was a little alarming, but I never slept even for a minute. I felt like my body was exhausted but my brain was absolutely wired. We were lights off around 4am, but I just tossed and turned. Light visuals persisted until the next afternoon, even, when we starting having some drinks and... ahem… took more doses for the next night’s show. The second trip was really light with basically no visuals even though we took another pretty solid dose due to tolerance. I did sleep quite well the second night, fortunately.
- All in all, I think my whole group overshot the mark a little bit, but I’m super happy I did. It was definitely the experience I was looking for – a really impressive trip, an awesome show, and a great environment for a more substantial dose. It was a hell of an adventure, which is probably my number one interest in these mind-expanding drugs!
