Least intelligent poster?
Subjective obvioudly, though interesting all the same
I believe least intelligent is unanimous, not that he understands that word anyway

Least intelligent is Neal. Most is Akira. You can't even debate him, he'll run circles around you until you're too confused to tie your own shoe.

You can't debate him because he misconstrues arguments and constantly goes off on tenuously related tangents. All the while continuously claiming to not actually be engaging in a debate yet simultaneously declaring himself the winner.

I always looked up to Diploid. There was no doubt he was a serious genius.
Enlil is also a really smart guy. So is Ped.
jellyfish has a phD in like biochem and is extremely smart as well.
DividedQuantum also comes to mind, as does redgreenvines in a highly emotionally intelligent sort of way.
And as out there as Asante is, he's a very smart man. I'm pretty sure all of the chemistry and pharmacology he knows was self-taught. Anyone who's taken even basic chem knows how impressive that is.

Ped, jellyfish, enlil, dustbunny, and Asante come to mind as truly intelligent people. A lot of others I don't see as being particularly more intelligent than most, but their viewpoints and outlook on life are so unique that I always enjoy their perspective on things. Burke, darkstar, JokeShopBeard, and a few others come to mind in this category. Zappa of course took the cake here. Dude was worldly as fuck.
For what it's worth, I've always seen myself as somewhat more intelligent than most, but far from a genius or anything like that.

Of course it's true, guy can't follow a simple argument to save his life. I made the mistake of trying to debate him a few times, I won't even do it anymore. I end up pissed off/frustrated because he goes off on weird entirely unrelated tangents and confuses the fuck out of me.
Sky is blue. "No, it's green." No, it's blue. Science backs this up by explaining that the blue light is scattered by our atmosphere more than the red light. "What about the carbon emissions? Humans have been steadily increasing the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere since the dawn of the industrial revolution. Despite empirical evidence stating otherwise people still want to insist the levels have not really changed in the last 200 years." What? Wait.. Huh?! "I win"
I could make it more accurate by opening a thesaurus but I don't feel like it.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Intelligence is so subjective.
I find many to be above average intelligence for various and differing reasons:
Beserker, dark star, Asante, shroomism, moonshoe, enlil, Slothie, yogabunny, qman, Burke, sun spots, koods, magenta, shroomerintherye, Alan Rockefeller, rose, zappa(rip), 404, Akira, hex, Patrick, shroomerite and others I've likely forgot

Enlil was first to come to mind. Along with Clock and Akira. And a bunch of the Philosophy shroomerites. I think a fair majority of people here are intelligent.
I want to take that IQ Test now but I can't message false reality for it. *sigh*

Many of the philosophy subforum regulars are quite bright, and certainly most of them blow the quoted users out of the water. I have nothing against those people, but I don't see it Akira in particular appears to be emotionally retarded, and no that's not a flame that's an assessment on his capacity of thought.
No other posters have stood out to me as shockingly bright.

How could I forget Moonshoe. While not perfect (no one is), I do think he's more intelligent than the average Shroomerite.
I also think Pirate Blues, HPI, DustBunny, Darkstar, Micro (no comment on his sexual exploits), and Crystal G are quite intelligent.

I'm a little surprised Akira has been mentioned multiple times. His vocabulary can be kind of impressive sometimes but I sometimes got the impression he was the kind of person to do something like google "smart people words" and then pretend to know more than whoever he's arguing with. A lot of his debates end up bein big cluster fucks, from what I've seen at least.

Most of the arguments on here are tiring. Rarely is anyone going into it trying to get to the truth of the argument - though I find that's true of a lot of people who like to argue(it's important to note the difference between intelligent discussion and debate and argument in this particular context), they're usually just going into it trying to validate their own opinion and have too big of an ego to admit they're wrong even when faced with objective facts and evidence.
I think the most intelligent users are able discuss emotional issues in an unemotional manner and if/when it comes to it, admit they're wrong or at least look at differing opinions or facts that dispute their own opinion and see those things as something to learn from, even if they don't necessarily change their opinion on whatever is being argued. It's something that I don't see enough of, and I know that I'm not perfect in this regard either.
Also I think there are some shitposters that are much more intelligent than they come across as and generally just post on shroomery when they're high as balls, or don't see the point in taking things too seriously on here.

I agree, alot of the intelligent posters here end up having a big cocky attitude to me thru the boards. But their strengths are also shown. Emotional intelligence is also something that I can see in numerous posters. I enjoy reading from people who have enjoyable emotional posts to posters who have very level headed emotional input as well. I quite envy those people who are not overly emotional like I see myself as being. But there's strengths in all of that too.

SVS is a prime example of that, on the rare occasion he shows it is clearly very intelligent.
@MM Thanks (Though I'm just a long-time drug nerd also interested in psychology, which comes up a lot in ODD ), but you are forgetting some. Jellyfish perhaps the most dramatic example in ODD, having just submitted his doctoral thesis and planning on post-doc work ( ). Hanz as well, never went on to get his doctorate but to quote Jellyfish "Your work makes my O. Chem PhD look like a liberal arts degree" For the Shroomery as a whole (Re: Forgetting people), Enlil one of the most dramatic examples. I assume the most common reason some people didn't list him is how concise he often is. One of my favorite quotes is "Poor Faulker, does he really thing big emotions come from big words?", and of course Occam's Razor applies here, too.
I think many user's here are well above average intelligence.

He's not even good at arguing semantics. One time he quoted dictionary definitions at me for a few words and cherry picked single words from those definitions in an attempt to connect them to make his point. His supposed connections were total nonsense. It was ridiculous.

I'm amazing at arguing semantics. It's hella fun. Also, people always rag on arguing semantics, but the meanings of words are kind of important given they are the basis for communication.
Other than his ridiculous debate tactics, he's cool. He likes art as I do, even though his philosophical views on art are silly. We've gotten into multiple insanely long debates on that toopic.

Don't you think that they kind of just distract from the main argument? I absolutely agree that context is important, but the main reason I see people argue semantics is because they have no good argument against the actual opposing point.

Yeah, most of the time people argue semantics, they're just being ridiculous. That's why it gets a bad wrap. But when you bust out a legitimate semantic argument against someone using words willy nilly, as Akira often does, it's pretty sweet.

I think you're someone I mainly agree with on here so I can't speak for your semantic arguing prowess particularly, of course
Yeah, most of the time people argue semantics, they're just being ridiculous. That's why it gets a bad wrap. But when you bust out a legitimate semantic argument against someone using words willy nilly, as Akira often does, it's pretty sweet.
Prides himself on his semantic arguments, says "bad wrap"

I wouldn't read too much into the Myers Briggs stuff. Its kinda like horoscopes in that its just vague enough to work IMO.

iirc there are quite a lot of inxx's on shroomery, with a disproportionate amount of infjs and intjs.
Of course myers-brigg is not absolute and you cannot pigeonhole humanity into 16 categories, it's method is just one way to quantify a person's personality - but yeah, when I looked into it more it made so much sense to me that I was genuinely comforted that I finally seemed to fit a 'type' and it made me feel like less of an alien.
I'm introverted, but I connect with people super easily - I've always shifted between social butterfly and being super aloof as a result. INFJs seem to be the most easy to mis-type as well, but that's kind of expected for a type known to be chameleon like.

ehh. Horoscopes are a little(much)flakier. If you read more into myers briggs and different functions, it makes much more sense and actually does have some weight- the thing is that it's not a hard science and anything that relies on a persons ability to assess themselves objectively is inherently flawed.
I've actually had employers make me take myers briggs tests(as well as DISC personality tests, which is interesting to look into if you can find a free one to take) before employing me, which I think is excessive, but interesting.

Fuck you Malcolm, my horoscopes are always dead on, I tell you what. It's like they can read my future.

Writing a horoscope column would actually be a terrific writing exercise. You've got to focus on universally applicable themes using specific language. That being said I'm a pisces/aries cusp so I've never known which one to read and quickly lost interest .
My mom is into crystals and feng shui and astrology(but she's also super technical so it's kinda a weird mix) and has always tried to get me into it.

@PB
I agree that MBTI isn't nearly as ridiculous as horoscopes. I've taken the MBTI test and always get E/I NT P/j. I feel the introverted/extrovert and perceiving/judging categories just depend on how I feel at the time of taking the test.

I used to be into all that shit. My grandma was pretty into that stuff in my early childhood. She taught me about auras and astral projection. I only remember her mentioning it in passing but she used to also study "witchcraft" and shit like that as well. My childhood kinda lined up with her gradual decline of interest in that stuff and I caught just most of the tail end of it. I know at one point she was so deep into weird shit like that, that she had a psychotic episode and had to be institutionalized for awhile because she was convinced vampires were real and she refused to sleep so she wouldn't get bit. . To me it was just normal but I imagine anyone who met her later on in life that heard about how she used to be would do a double or triple take and refuse to believe it. She was a very "normal" grounded person, like the most neutral/bland person you could imagine.

I almost forgot who I was talking to for a second
@Masked
The test will ask you how align with personality statements such as "I prefer large crowds", or "I like to plan things before starting a task." You'll respond with strongly agree/disagree and it will categorize you based on your answers. I'm not gonna get into all the different measurements and what they mean. If you decide to take the test the results page will explain it better than I can.

Yes. I score either INFJ or INFP, though my love of to-do list and neurotic quest for perfection usually makes me lean slightly more towards j than p. but I think that's more a flaw of the tests I've taken than the philosophy as a whole because when I've read further into it and tried to accurately assess myself it became much clearer - the lines will always be blurry though, anything dealing with something as subjective as the human personality will always be blurry
when you look further into the functions and do some reading(extroverted intuition vs introverted intuition is an interesting read that focuses mainly on how someone collects and processes information, for instance) it's actually quite a complex and well thought out exercise in psychology.
But yeah, it's easy for people to kinda drink the koolaid and try to pigeonhole everyone and everything.

admittedly my results go between infj and intj depending on my mood, but it's always one of those two.
when I'm in a good mood I get INFJ, when I'm less cheerful INTJ

I score high on both T and F, but I score super high on feelings and ultimately decide that it's just better to be a big wet noodle instead of lack in emotional intelligence, so I always end up as an INFX
My brother is the only one that scores as an S in my family and it makes complete sense, both my parents and I are super into abstract somewhat alternative stuff, my parents both score as INTJs though I do suspect they could also score as INFJ, my brother who has always been the super conventional and normal version of blacksheep in my family scores as like an ESFP.

I scored INFP There is some merit to that test for sure. Only a miniscule percent of people score INTJ (1-3% IIRC) but in our community it's like 30-40% of users. That alone lends some merit to the test

Hey I love astrology!!
But not the column astrology, people who read those should not take them seriously. But good for you man Shroomslip. I stopped playing Dark Souls. I am too OCD when I play games and don't want to fuck up majorly bc I'm exhausted all the time.
I've always gotten INFJ for years but now I'm ENFJ. what? But that was like a few months ago where I was feeling pretty extroverted. Now I'm back to being a hermit.

ya to me that really makes sense, at least from observing people I am close to and their interest or lack thereof with psychedlics, the IN types seem to be obsessed with them whereas the others seem to either have a passing interest or outright fear of them
