Hey guys. First post and first time hunter - I live in very South west of England. Dartmoor area specifically. I'm wondering, would it be worth going up and looking on dartmoor at this time of year? Or should I leave it for a bit?
Thanks!

Hi all, I went to my main spot the other day after a lot of rain and dropped temps, then waited for a nice morning, thought I would give it a try. My spot is about 1100 feet above sea level but the ground was really dry, didn't find any libs only dopplegangers. I think early September (traditional season - for a change haha) will be when our friends pop out. Good luck everyone, be patient.

Hey, First time on here and novice to collecting my own shrooms. I have some in my garden that grow in a circle but I'm pretty sure they aren't any good. I live in the West Midlands right in the countryside. I have sort of an idea about where to be looking but I'm still not sure. There is a fair size woods nearish to me (hay wood) and it's pretty diverse in terms of the different types of trees/wildlife. It has fields that border it the whole way around too, most aren't farmed. Would this be a good place to start looking as a novice when the season kicks off? Or are there any areas around the West Midlands that are known, it'd be nice to pick a few I'm confident with and go from there. I can get some pictures of the ones in my garden if anyone is interested but like I said pretty sure they're duds

YES consideration to the purpose of all living things is the big realization for me,and yeh the Mycorrhizal networks plays the part, I know, the fruiting body is still needed lol!cant just go around removing all of them for fuck sake!. - I was referring to the fly agaric, wont go to another plant it will find its native tree ie pine and birch when its in need ofg the extra push.. I did arboriculture for 2 years at collage thank god so that allowed for the extra consideration ! and yeh that's how plants and trees communicate through the Mycorrhizal networks ! even insects receive their responses when a tree or a plant is In trouble! all is connected through this network , even our own central nervous system reflects it, and its in my believe wer also have the symbiotic connection with fungi as a whole, no different to the plants and trees , insects do... hooorraaay for knowledge! ho ray , generally speaking Mycorrhizal networks is beneficially within every wild plant, tree organism out there, cant cope without it,its their comms aswel as food source.. but the fly agaric has its special duty to certain birch and pine . so just consider that before going mental , anyway the fly agric offers nothing in comparison to psilocybin , so no point anyways
without being a snob , but just simply being sensitive to the organism at work and yes who wants a mud bath tea. but again, its your patch , do what you want , I just thought id try bring it into perspective those that rip and take , whether it be fly agaric underlining surface symbiosis to its native trees or interconnecting mycelium wasting resources from our ways , makes sense ?
anyways I aint gunna spend this season running my mouth off....enjoy this instead, told by the man himself, another video that helped me to realize the bigger picture of interconnection within all species and it seeks mutual benefits rather than destructive taking without the receive! in a way much how the heart works , gives and it receives , like breathing..
anyways enjoy if you haven't already seen this - ignore the quality , its the words that speak for themselves , I have veered off topic but this should broaden the horizon better than I can
ahh duecbi9 hello again! hey check this out lads , perfect for drying, they have upgraded the model to this and its only £32, I had the old model so I can safely assure that these thing fucking rock for mushrooms! ! at a reasonable temp it blows air up and spreads all around it assuring an even dry, the result for the price just cant go wrong

- previous model which now unavailable
dry evenly and adequately... hope yalz been good

Top o' the season to ya psy.
psy> I was referring to the fly agaric, wont go to another plant it will find its native tree ie pine and birch
deuced> I could have made it clearer, by "another plant" I meant other tree types that it typically forms a symbiosis with.
psy> Mycorrhizal networks is beneficially within every wild plant, tree organism out there... but the fly agaric has its special duty to certain birch and pine.
deuced> I see no reason to suppose that the fly agarics relationship with their 'host trees' is somehow more special than the symbiotic relationships that exist between any other plant/tree life you alluded to.
psy> so just consider that before going mental, anyway the fly agric offers nothing in comparison to psilocybin, so no point anyways.
deuced> We agree on that. "As long as some fruits are left to mature enough to release their spores"
psy> anyway the fly agric offers nothing in comparison to psilocybin , so no point anyways
deuced> I would love to find some fly agarics just so I can test the claim made by 'HerbBaker' in his post here>

It really helped me to get through my first real winter in Flagstaff (we had twenty feet of snow and the temperature got down as far as 25 below zero) after a lifetime of living in the desert. I would wake up on a grim, iron-gray morning wanting to spend the day hiding under the blankets, feeling stiff and depressed and chilled to the bone. I would trudge down to the kitchen and have a cup of coffee, then cut off two tablespoons of frozen muscaria from a package in the freezer and sauté it in a little butter. I scrambled it with eggs and cheese, and enjoyed the rich flavor. Within 15 minutes I would feel a surge of energy and cheerfulness. I became toasty warm and invigorated.

Yeh we agreed, I was talking out to everyone it cool ma man , yeh I have read the od claims about this lucid dream state, but theres a risk of choking on vomit? so a sitter is a must, I think someone died that way.. but why I never understood it being or having anything to do with jesus etc,,, so much prep when one can just love the cow - like Krishna hindu rig vedas he was a herdsman and tended to the cows, I feel the psilocybe cubensis was the thing that liberated - the mainstream religions hated this idea and seeked to control like the mad fuckers they are, spiritually starved , roots torn
ancient sciences , metaphysical in nature those 3 cultures. Hindu Egyptian and Sumerian all had the bull/cow figure high importance.as I said before about the ice caps melting 12,000years ago, there is mythological war that went on which liberated cattle and gave way for agriculture, some deep and mysterious stuff. also jesus to me was no different to a native shaman using psilocybin, I mean look at lord Pakal , very shamanic looking , we were upto some serious hyper dimensional stuff back then haha
I'm saying to much again, dam soz, although the link you provided seems interesting and goes in some serious depth, will read thru cheers.
anyways , looking at the temps this week seem right so I may wonder to a spot later in the week.. 16 deg 11 night with patchy rain, autumn is on the horizon, first night ive had to use ma blanket couch lol :-)..
good to see ya again anyways duec, happy hunting

Hey folks, hope it's all going well.
I managed to find about 50 today so brings the season total up to 63 so far...
There were 6 mushrooms at 1000 feet and I was about to call it a day as those 6 took me over an hour to find then I noticed a really nice lush green patch with short grass up above...you know the type...perfect shroom territory.
So I walked up there which was about another 150 feet higher up and found the rest - maybe a coincidence, maybe just a great patch of grass for them but I can't help but agree that height plays a massive part of it this early in the season!
The rain came on so I went home but I'll be back there tomorrow and most days until the spots lower down start fruiting.
Temps here have been about 10-13c at night and 16-19 during the day although probably a few celcius cooler up at the height I was hunting.

Yeah I have found them on Dartmoor around this time before. The high ground where there are rocks/boulders is where I found some (along the bits where people walk). I would have thought you will do well as this year seems to have been especially damp. I do love the national parks
I looked over one of my local parks last week but there was nothing, but I'm in the south east near london which is generally a lot drier from what I can gather.

Back to the same place today (about 1200ft ASL - temps are 16c today and about 9c last night) in the pissing rain and I found another 30 but I think I walked past loads because they're quite difficult to spot when they're browny/black. Much easier to see when they're golden or white.

So they are definitely up now at the higher elevations... I'm really torn on whether it's worth me taking an hour long bus journey to one of my best spots. It's at around 1300ft, but I would be so heartbroken if I travelled all that way and came home with nothing. But at the same time it's so hard waiting when it's nearly season, and even harder knowing that there could be some up there right now!
