I don't drive and I don't have any likeminded friends, so getting up there is either going to be expensive as, or the longest public transport round trip ever... Cry for me please

I do this and almost every time find some more growing within a few feet that I may not have spotted from a standing position because of their size, colour, or the amount of grass surrounding them.
Quoted for truth.
Also, great pictures!

Hey guys, I live in an area with low elevation. Typically 30, 60 at most in places where I can bike to. Do libs fruit at these altitudes or am I wasting my time?

There aren't any moorlands within Flintshire and transport-wise I'm in the same position as this guy;Quote:

ToxicMan said: Picking mushrooms (even when the entire stem is taken) has not been shown to cause any harm to the organism. There is even some suspicion among some mycologists that leaving a bit of stem behind can cause harm to the fungus, by providing an injured, open area that is susceptible to infection and disease. Incidentally, the reasearch done so far gives this theory no more support than the theory that taking the entire stem causes harm.
Mushrooms are fruiting bodies, just as are apples. If you pick every apple from a tree (and get the stems also), you don't harm the tree. If you picked every apple from every tree and did it for many years, the population of apple trees would diminish and die out eventually.
The "body" of the fungus is the mycelium. It looks a lot like bread mold. They can be very large. As long as you don't destroy whatever the mycelium is growing in the fungus whould be fine. Remember, all of the mushrooms will rot and disappear within a fairly short time, whether you pick them or not.
Forever learning!
Not libs but...
...you can see that there are several pins on the base of one of those stipes. If they had they been cut, rather than pulled, those pins could have become full grown mushrooms resulting in a quicker second flush, where, in the case of the lib season being so short in some areas, that could be quite a significant loss, potentially, to the overall years harvest. I've never seen this on libs, but then, I've always 'nipped' rather than pulled.
Happy trails.
happy trails, I encourage this ^^ why risk it ^^ - be encouraged by what duice said whether on libs or not. toxicman, well say no more, name just did.. see yaz....... all the best,im done ere yal b pleased to know

I had to google Flintshire to see if this was an actual place as I'd never heard of it. Lo and behold, or should that be lol and behold, one of the largest towns in the county is called Mold, I thought it ironic, but then it dawned on me, as a grower, that mold and mushrooms growing, or lack of, aren't so much ironic, as a fact of life.
Made me lol. It seems someone's going to have to get their hiking boots on. Here's a hint for ya. Stay clear of Mold in ya hunts!
Good luck everyone.

i see more good lib spots in flintshire than here oddly enough, i don't have great spots i just put a lot of time into it, i know 3 good microclimates n the rest are all dotted around, done 17 miles before
most of the time it's like you find that perfect spot and you've overlooked it the whole time

Hills are reaching about 100m above sea level at best, been there and found nothing.

Yes Mold is a bus ride away, Moel Famau is within Mold but on the very outskirts and with no public transport stops nearby. I doubt the name Mold will change the lack of finds

I've believed that a perfect environment has been found via Google Maps, but when you check the altitude they are only about 80m above sea and everywhere within walking distance of my home has been checked - not one single lib. If you could please PM my the coordinates of where in Flintshire you expect to be good, I can let you know if they've already been checked or are too far away.

Hey everyone, 1st post, but usual lurking in the forum this time of year to see when the season is starting.
This is what I found today... Pretty sure they're libs.
I'm in South Yorkshire.

Good luck with cloning from them I'm afraid I'm far too hamfisted to clone such small mushrooms
Also found these shaggy mane I believe
Please don't risk your health eating random mushrooms. I'm not a TI, but as I like a drink I've always steered clear of those sort of mushrooms.

So I'm thinking its gonna be mushrooms on toast for lunch
Even if they aren't what I think they are, they still look past their use by date.
