Yeah it's a lib just a bit abnormal, very meaty, the only true lookalike is semiglobata i find and the stipe actually grips onto moisture, if you zoom in you'll notice that this only holds it on the cap, plus it's very wavy and the overall texture of the stipe just shouts lib, not to mention the semi transparent gills, we see a lot of crazy ones on the first proper flushes they can't come up fast enough

Yes but the gills look to be white? At least the rim is. If the gills were white I wouldn't eat it. I saw a couple of those yesterday although I got 150 proper so all good.

It's verging on sterile or at least a massive lack of spores but it's a liberty cap just an oddity, you can actually see the gills through the cap and they look slightly darker than the cap

Thank you for that! Yep noticed it was different in shape but the features were pretty noticeable to me and the fact that it was growing amongst other libs just made me convinced enough to pick it! So you reckon this is just because of an early flush?

That's interesting because yesterday I found like 5 or so that had everything more or less, much like the posters photo there, but the gills were white. So I didn't take them. I didn't know that u could get unsterile ones. Do they still contain psy? How are they sterilised? Expand.

sterile means they contain no spores or very little spores, spores produce a lot of colouration on the gills, lack of spores results in an albino effect and they are active yeah the same as normal libs

Think i found a sterile one. Pics of the moon just dont do it justice. It was epic this evening. Apparently its closer than normal. Apparently full moon is a good time for mushrooms.

Since there's a sterile lib topic through the thread of late, I also think I may have come across a couple, growing side by side this morning. I discarded them because of the unknown but I took pics. Some are awful, I have little control over the focus of my cheap Android.. In saying that it can take some decent pics.
I found them in my 'old faithful' following the first of the much anticipated heavy rains of the season, surrounding many little juicy browns.. along with many other 'lookalikes' might I add.
A comparison to some libs found nearby. The smaller bruised blue at the stem. Looked like libs, felt like libs, smelt like libs.
Isn't it cool we're finding them far and wide? The season in full force? I think so Some habitat pics taken in the last week, my libs heart gorse! I found this monster tucked into a baby tuft of gorse. Yes it hurt. Yes it was worth it.

Vasea im going to guess and say some kind of panaeolus. Someone else will know better.
Mushehead you might need to post gill shots and a description to get those idd. Maybe one of these? http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/~entolomataceae.php

I don't think the season has started in the West Midlands. Not finding any anywhere! May still be too warm
