Didn't read any of that, was way too long and doesn't interest me nor is it anything to do with the thread just blocked that guy.
Ah, that explains it, you tend to get colder random snaps there so looks like it's would be the norm to have a bit of frost occasionally.
I never saw many scottish posters but seeing loads this year seems like a perfect habitat if you get the right places, reptons doing pretty damn good for example, for me it's more about just getting out there, i'm happy if even find 30 or so cause i don't really trip that much these days, i just love the species it's fascinating, i really wanna go abroad to see wild cubensis too at some point.
I think after some nice rainfall we should see a lot more activity, i went expecting to just find edibles but they was popping up everywhere so i ended up out all day lol.

I've just gotten back, I found bugger all libs. Checked 3 fields and found loads of in-actives within the third field, if conditions are right for in-actives then why are libs still nowhere to be seen? In the other fields I found next to no in-actives, I also slipped on a patch of cow shit and landed upon a thistle. Bastard. Thats me done until November. P.S - Arguments don't offer much to the thread.

In my little bit of research in another thread it seems that Scotland is pretty much covered in great liberty cap habitat which doesn't seem to rely too heavily on there being rain... Rest of the UK not so blessed.

Sorry to hear that young fuzzy. Must admit though, your slipping on cow shit, been there, and your close encounter with a "fissle"! made me lol. The trials and tribulations of mushing eh.
Are these three fields you speak of known lib fields, you've picked libs there before? If not three fields is nothing.
There are two good fields I've been visiting for many years, they are a mile and a half from each other and you can cross a dozen fields going from one to the other and never find a lib in any other but those two. And of those two fields that do yield libs, they only fruit in very small sections of them. You could easily walk through fields full of libs and miss them. If you've had a smoke or eaten a few mush from the last hunt, you could be forgiven for thinking that the libs are playing tricks on you or elsewise anthropomorphising them in some way.

My research concurs with yours, Cow Botherer.
Indeed it was just the last quarter moon when chatting to my good Caledonian friend Mycological McTavish that he asserted that in their highland location that himself and fellow clan members relied more on dew than actual precipitation from rain and drizzle.

There has been no rain for a week here but lots of dew the past two days, found some in the park today, there was lots more but it got dark. Rain's not always needed folks!

Hello all,
I was wondering if I can get help with a liberty cap ID? The link is below, I might have put the request in the wrong place.
Are these liberty caps?
Thanks!

Had some rain the other night N Bucks, but it can't have been enough because there are no mushies near me, not even lookalikes or randoms. Had a tiny bit more rain tonight but it can't be enough.
I just composed this and thought I'd share it with you.
Nature diverts me to voicemail
Every day I walk the fields, sometimes afternoon and sometimes morning, With my walking boots on, and a happy heart, I like to go exploring, I've lurked on forums and done my research, in the hope I find something, But every day my pockets are empty, I always seem to find NOTHING!
I believe when nature wants to talk to us, she shows us her rare fruit, In my case she ignores me, nothing, no conversation, just mute.

It seems MK is surrounded by alkaline soils - not so good for liberty cap finding Have you found any before?

I've only just now realized the correct spelling for thistle Two of the three fields have contained libs in the past few years, I haven't been hunting since about 2010 and even back then I'd struggle to find 20 in one field. I was under the impression that if its too warm and/or dry for libs then it would also be too warm and/or dry for other species; but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I think when nature wants to talk to us she doesn't always do it like that and when she's ready to make you happy you'll remember how to always be happyish.

Thank you for guiding me towards that, although its crashing on the iPad, I'll look on the laptop. And thank you for cutting my empty handed hunting short!
Now to find a field not near MK!!

I'm hoping that with enough input anyone will be able to figure out the best places around them without having to ask for specific spots to look, so far it's been interesting.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries/2015/september - worth the comparison.. fruiting well, was this time last year, this year seems late, but judging by last years temp and rainfall comparison puts it in good perspective , at least for east Anglia anyway - which really set the scene well as October grew closer last year. - judging the records it was a wet one..
this year september has effected October, autumn starting late due to -
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/summaries - September 2016
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37345436 - "Highest September temperature since 1911 as 34.4C recorded"
so worth reasoning and remembering(rather than location - for now) as to why the start is bumpy this year, at least for the most part of country anyways.... give it 2weeks , will be in full effect for all, so fear not. ...
