hazydaze , google earth is your companion, spend a Saturday ''getting lost'' out in the sticks where u know sheep/horse/cow are or have been, google earth may hav snaps of grazing animals as u cycle through the years or of the last 4 , - or atleast if its a seasonal cycle of grazing on a field then bonus maybe.. if not on one despite, dont give up just try another, but google earth allows you to plan.. if asked what ur doin, be straight, and say I'm out enjoying this fresh air picking autumn fruits.. done.
I've been bashing Google earth, I live In The valleys so many spots of vast potential areas it's just a case of hitting the right one eh! Lol
I have attempted to go back to the area of my old early 90's picking spots but it's been so long I lost my bearings a bit and didn't quite get the spot right.. lol
I'm gonna go head to Brecon for a scout over the next few days..

Hey guys, I don't know whether these are Liberty caps or Panaeolus paps because I'm a massive noob but I got them in Ireland today.

Not asking for them to be IDed by the way. Just sticking this up here because I thought it was relevant and might help out someone. Holy crap though, there are so many poisonous looking bastards in the fields behind my house.

HazyDaze,
All my mushroom spots are in areas which have been undisturbed for a long time, moorland would probably be your best bet or fields which have been used for grazing only. I Think they have the most established mycelium networks as there are no Farm vehicles / fertilizers damaging them.

Hey Guys I feel a bit gutted. Last year I found and experienced my first magic mushrooms and I cant seem to see any of them (let alone any other fungal growth). Is it becuase of the weather? It seems much hotter and far less damp compared to last year.

I have Tuesday and Wednesday off work so will dedicate these days searching for these buggers somewhere in Hampshire. The temperature here has dropped significantly over the last few days and mornings are starting off quiet damp so hopefully I'll have some success.
I shall return with an update!

Hello hello hunters!
Everyone is clearly very eager to start seeing some successful hunts coming over the coming weeks, myself included.
The weather forecast for South East England is remarkably dry for the coming weeks. I'd like to get out ASAP now the temperature has plummeted, however the lack of rain is keeping me at bay.
My question is this: is rain necessary prior to liberty caps popping up, or is the morning dew enough for them?
Thanks in advance, and happy hunting!

Not to be too paranoid, but the fingerprints of the person holding those mushrooms are perfectly visible and identifiable in that picture...
