Cheers! Not many around yet. They look darker than what i found last year and thr gills lighter. Im still rather inexperienced but havent had a negative id yet!!! Would i be right in thinking the caps are darker due to the wet weather and the gills a bit lighter as there new/early in the season? Thanks

We always used to slow cook and freeze in 1 litre bottles then defrost them over night as u need. It goes down well if you add sum diluted orange juice and give it a warm up in the microwave

the gills can range in colour tone but you become accustomed to the colour of the gills eventually, if you're not getting negative ID's then it's having a good eye for mycology by default

One last forage? Just as the season is about to start?
Don't let your lack of finds, if that's why you speak of your "last forage", put you off this early in the year. I'm in Bucks' and october is much more lib friendly. In fact, warm gloves and a woolly hat, along with the wellies is, oddly enough, usualy an absolute must much of the time this far south, especially when cycling, due to the relatively late start to the season. That's not to say you can't have the odd day when you can be picking mushrooms in your shirt-sleeves, just that that is a bonus. A biting wind, with runny nose and eyes, and an earache too, if you forget the hat, is what I often associate picking troops of libs with.

Well, that sounds just about absolutely dis-fukin-gusting. You going for the purge or something? I think I'll stick to my Bovril flavoured peppery infusion.
Oh look. I'm blathering. It's infectious.

The ones I found the other night have dried. It was tricky because they where quite dry when I picked them. I think I may have got one or two Protostropharia semiglobata dried smaller but the rest are good. I'll likely fling some in the garden because of doubt. Anyone like to take any further guesses to my IDing accuracy? Third pic along are the ones I have picked out not being right shape.

Lovely afternoon out <3 washing them down with a tangerine or a carton of orange juice is the way to go. I've had some challenging trips lately. Today was one of those open hearted everything's beautiful ones.

Im wondering what deadly looky likeys have the cap shape and dark gills? I think I'm throwing way more in the garden than I need to. Cus they look a bit odd.

Also, in the name of knowing your enemy I brought home some inactive, unknown and deadly neighbours for spore printing.

your first pic of rows, underneath the picture of the scenery,, one may of slipt the net of perception , sneaky fucker tryna fit in like the rest of the libs, its the 8th in from bottom row .. seemed like it dryin with a polish sheen rather than like a rubber titty - literally what they remind me of then again can still well be.. know which one I mean?
edit, here I took the liberty' - lol penned around one I mean.
anyways, that first row above your quoted post , they drying beautifully, like crumpled up golden aluminum wrappers , love when they do that
and just realize a post from last week is the one I picked out... ooops
the point remains though, the look alikes in genral that slip the net will dry differently. I think il be going now... lol

i keep stayin up all night... i know i can get hauls but my insomnia n anxiety is crippling since i don't drink daily anymore nor smoke daily, docs don't give ya shit either, all ssri's.
i'm hoping to get up there as soon as i can, i wake up too late in the evening see n i usually smash it on these threads so my drive is really slowing down, i had a nice dose since i was getting no sleep anyway so hopefully that resets me for a hunt soon
will update if i end up going

I've not found nothing in East Anglia yet. Not sure if it's gonna be an October fest? We had rain yesterday though and it's got much colder so could be promising!
Also found a new sheep / horse pasture so may go and look today.

If all the rest adds up (rubbery stem, nipple etc.) then there is a big chance they were sterile libs. I have picked many of these in time.

I'm that way... I haven't bothered till mid October, experience wise hadn't been worth it b4 hand.. , the cycle, the train journey then more cycling, so I leave it till its worth it and plenty full ... September here is merely an initiation of the transition, that can also depend on weather and how much summer still has to offer. humidity is right now though so, we in autumn for sure now, had all those weeks of hot sun, only just settle out , ul be in luck forbidding right habitat, thel be a few around but for me personally, I wait early - mid October then it worth my efforts , good luck..
blazey - have you thought about brewing your own ayuhusca - how ever it spelt, you don't need to treck to the amazon, you can buy all you need online, make it your self and deliver own journey

Thanks mate, does sterile mean no spores, or no psilo content?

Littlespider, those little specks near the libs, are they maggots? A few we got, after drying on paper had those little specks near them?

Yeah there are a few maggots in those shots, I see them. Libs are often infested with them, they can hide in numbers under the cap, usually around the stem apex. They'll jump ship when the mushrooms dry, though. Nothing to worry about.
