Hi everyone. I'm also a first time poster, long time tripper and VERY long term lurker on this site. (Nearly 10 years!)
Going out hunting at dawn this morning, been a few times already this season but only found about 50. I'm just outside Glasgow and there are plenty of Libs and Cyans to be found here so i'll keep you all posted over the next couple of months. Will also be going to a favourite spot near Aberfoyle to pick Chanterelles and other edibles, but i'll post those pics elsewhere.
Happy hunting!

With each containing one of the following: Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk? Didn't think so. This is why Positive Identification prior to consumption is important.

Hello there friend, could you post pics of Cyan habitats if possible (just like the actual environment they grow in rather than location) I'm in Edinburgh and my goal is to try and find Cyans this year!

I like this site for finding walks. If you search corberts and grahams you get walks with a bit of altitude. http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lothian/

Still sparse here in NE Lancs. have previously picked hundreds in August!! Ah well.
So I've been thinking, bearing in mind in about 6 weeks I've amassed the grand sum of about 40 Libs........
.........has anyone tripped by taking a mixture of cubes and Libs? Would you recommend? Or should I wait and keep the, separate? Had a gap of 30 years between my last couple of mad years and now. So this year I've only had cubes, and I find them very "easy", if that's the right word. Memories of Libs are that they are MUCH stronger than cubes, and also much more sinister
Thoughts, anyone?

Hey neighbour
Hi Spider! You in Scotland/Glasgow too?
Thanks, i think i'm going to need some luck, i spent 2 hours this morning walking through the woods and fields and didn't find anything! And i don't mean just libs, there were no shrooms AT ALL. It rained heavy last night and the cow fields were far too boggy, really need the temp to drop to around 10oC or below as well. Mid-October is the peak season here so maybe i'm just being impatient.
Sorry for poor quality images, will take a better camera next time for shroom shots.
Sunrise, Glasgow.

Walked through all the fields and woodland beyond but no luck today

Anyone in the Harlow Essex area know if any libs have popped up yet, been out looking but haven't found any definitive liberty caps, just lookalikes

well, yet another fruitless afternoon. at least the sun was shining! who doesn't enjoy a good walk in the countryside anyway.... i am yet to find one definite lib on any of my usual spots in south derbyshire, i was beginning to worry but, from what others are saying from further afield looks like maybe we'll just have to wait a while longer? the nights are certainly getting cooler now, dew on the grass every morning and i am seeing lots of daddy long legs about too. in recent years i have used that as a sign that things are on the change and that the fruit won't be too far behind?!
stay lifted people!!

I've mixed them Ed. 40 libs would be plenty for me though.
Leannan-Sidhe don't bother with woods or cow fields. Go higher. Moorland above 200m. We have a couple of little sets of hills within half an hour of glasgow. Sheep grazing is good. Grassy patches in between Heather or braken. That kind of place. Actually I found a few in rhe park but it's not a great spot. There is a field in between little hills, resivours and forestry commission land that just keeps giving. There are always loads. You have to park and walk though. But once your up its a peaceful trip in nature and you can pick for next time. Make sure you keep telling the field you love it, it makes them grow more

Cool thread... its great to see so much interest in Liberty hunting with lots of good information.
You don't see so many hunters in the fields now since the mushroom ban-mobile phone came into force so its easy to forget how many people are into them.
It has been my experience that they can grow anywhere the grass grows.
Ive found them on golf courses, in the rough and on the putting greens.
Ive found them on cow fields growing on the little islands of mud churned up by the cows.
Ive found them out the back green thats never seen a golfer or a cow or a sheep!
A lot of it comes down to getting your eye in, once you tune in to the shape / colour..darker when wet, lighter when sun / wind dried you might discover that you've been trampling all over them for ages, and can't stop finding them. I remember having to sacrifice some by standing on them to pick the bigger crop.
They would seem to be impossible to grow artificially but does that go for sclerotia?
A lot of species produce truffles..if Liberty's do then I imagine they would be quite potent.

One point to dwell on..
Have you ever been to a country farm and fed the lambs, stroked the Highland Coos?
There's signs all over the place telling you to wash your hands!
It might be a good idea to think about what may have shit on your mushroom!

2.5 hours over the moors to my favourite spots - not a dicky bird! Unrel for me to say, but I reckon Lancashire is still too warm and too dry

A lot of sun where I am, I can't wait for the rain... Nothing down these parts yet... Nice to see everyone else's pictures though.
