Went out today to my usual field (only one I know!) and found about 20. Am North West Cheshire. Assume we just need a bit of cold and rain? Or someone already had them all!

Wow! Great find. I guess it's colder up your way? How far north are you? Great find. Mine was pitiful but hoping for some more soon.

Repton escapes the heat wave, nice chunky potent lookin libs there man nice 1..
hottest September day in over 70 years apparently, Heathrow reached 32 degrees,,, whilst here in Suffolk it stayed at 25 thankfully... still sweating bucket's tho...
welcome to the party geekgirl ^ Cheshire hey, right near roro then, and doubt nobody had them, still earlyish really and climate aint exactly been reasonable, so fear not, September is only the initiation really, atleast here, full swing peak is toward mid - end October here , then declines till around mid - late November possibly December, 2 years ago I was snappin them at stalks they were frozen, was 18th December or around about, must of been a mild winter coz they were still around, some people say season over on the first freeze, I don't agree, but then I wouldn't,coz its best to go by your own experiences if its wrong , its over when you get several consecutive freezes in a row, not one or two here and there, but many in a row. . .
also if I remember rightly last year we were bombarded with about 7 different storms in those peak months? they all had names didn't they.. I wonder what the autumn weather will have in store for us this time... , that's when it actually kicks in..

Nice work, Repton. Been grim here in the north west, hunting-wise, so........we've got all that to come

It's been unnaturally hot up here too(east central scotland) been picking mostly at the same spot which started fruiting in June (see start of the thread). Compared to everywhere else I usually pick the main spot I pick at must be some kind of wormhole as we can't quite figure out how it fruits so much, so far we are putting it down to a thick layer of Sphagnum moss below the grass it holds a tonne of moisture and during the day gets heated by the sun and you can feel the stored heat in the ground well into the evening!

I believe it has been done, though it's not well documented or researched. As far as outdoors go, I've been saving sieved off shroom powder this year, I intend to return a lot of spore matter to the main spot, and for experimental purposes I'm hoping to fill some syringes and pump some into a few select grassy areas that I know don't have any semilanceata growing and see if anything occurs next season, just for fun.

On another note, I've had PM's from members looking to acquire liberty caps from me offering cash and trades etc. I understand why folks are seeking these but given the legal ramifications I'm not replying to or making any trades that can get me in trouble with the old bill.
I'm more than happy to provide spores / spore prints for anyone looking to experiment with cultivation etc as I have done this before on the forum but I cannot trade the actual mushrooms, which as it happens have so far been processed into a light brown crystalline concentrate which I store in heavily desiccated containers and consume in capsules.
Made the mistake of eating five of them on Saturday, I don't even recall using the fifth one but good god I was deconstructed from head to soul, I lost all concept of what mushrooms were and why on earth I pick them, I was completely lost for a while and fortunate to have an amazing other half who managed to make me laugh. The catalyst for the extreme confusion and ass-whooping was smoking joints (gave me total amnesia) and "for science" I bought 3 packs of fizzy strawberry laces which I had decided would be perfect to boost the trip due to the high acidity, well... It worked, but I was not entirely present in the end and won't be repeating that particular dose.
I'm planning to do a wee tutorial on my method for hot water extraction as I find the resulting substance, although awkward to work with due to it's ability to pull moisture out the air at an alarming rate, to be far easier on my stomach than eating or brewing tea as I find myself struggling with allergic reaction to Chitin, especially in my chest where it seems to trigger my asthma, the extract does not. I use water because at present I don't have any alcohol or methanol and find the resulting extract to be more than sufficient for my needs
Interestingly I used to put my tight chest and difficulty breathing down to Baeocystin in the liberty caps having read that it had been found to be a mild respiratory depressant, though having found that filtering tea through fine paper filters two or three times left me without any bother in my chest, the same for the extract. I came to the personal conclusion that the chitin was responsible, though I have no expertise to back this claim up! There are articles on the connection between chitin and asthma particularly in the shellfish industry though.

First time searching (north-west) and went up to a local reservoir. Found nothing - unless you count blackberries - which wasn't surprisingly considering it's been very warm and dry. Big storm recently though, so I'm wondering how long it takes for all the rain to influence anything. As in, can I go out again tomorrow and potentially there will be shrooms where there wasn't before?
