Hi everyone, new to the forum. I went on my first hunt yesterday in the west of Scotland. I was given around 100 Liberty caps from the fields I was hunting in last year so I know they are about. I picked these yesterday, any info is much appreciated.

Thanks for the information.
I think you might be right about that really bit one (it lost the nib on the top now that it's dried out?)

Anyway, sorry about the number of images, some are so small I couldn't fit them into the DoF very well and the little ones are all stuck to the paper so I figured it'd be easier to ID if I didn't rip them apart.

Will they be too dry now to do a spore print? I didn't want to rip off the stems until I had some decent photos in the day light.

Thank Spiggle, I was hoping more than anything. Yeah a guy down the road had a load and gave me them. Had a nice walk in the Scottish hills to enjoy them with a friend

I'm not sure spider, I'm no id expert, unfortunately, although never to late to learn tho I guess , just know a liberty when I see one :-)

aural pleasure - 16 , 18 and 19 are not, 1 is not errrm don't eat ones like 5... 3 is one and looks potent hehe

man, tricky picture coz some ones dying similar, but the ones that have more of a yellowish tint to the stalk, I wouldn't bother with... like 6....... but 6 7 10 11 are not either - 9 I'm unsure about

put them all together line by line and take pic, be easier. but the  majority isn't.

ones that are I would say, 2 3 13 15
cheers - wait for other opinions.

Seriously? what is it with this stupid weather? Really hoping it cools down soon.

Anyone ever met up with people from the forum? Sounds great but paranoid that they could be undercover. Too paranoid?

Anyway, I've a feeling this season is going to be immense once it gets going properly.

You all sure on tht, people? Let it dry: you want it to go white with black-ish gills, stain blue at base of stem.......

Only had an hour to spare, full of excitement, found 6

They're 6 damn fine specimens though, which brings my total to 41 lol. So glad my cube equadors are ready :tongue2:

well I'm sure its not.. others may disagree... don't always for the blue staining, coz poisonous can also stain blue and not all active has to bruise blue.  , also under the gills on that mushroom, it has white ring as appose to black.. my gut is telling me its not. - dry or no dry I can tell it just isn't, I too have picked them thinking it was though before, once it had dried it didn't dry the same .. not only that it just isn't screaming out to me I'm a liberty cap, hello everyone . those ones do share the habitat as liberties though

Some I found today in the hills of N. Wales. Got caught up in a squall just as I got there and had to hide in a sheep fold with a daddy long legs for three quarters of an hour until the sideways rain had stopped. It was pretty grim but I think we bonded. It takes a lot of adversity in order to feel that kind of camaraderie with a flying insect, let me tell you. Found a couple a little lower down than previously (roughly 800 feet above sea level), but literally only four or so. Still pretty slim pickings at the moment unfortunately; I'd left it a few weeks hoping they'd propagate in the cooler weather. Best of luck to everyone out hunting, it can't be long now!

Had me laughing out loud this mate, kind of thing I'd do, bond with insects etc

It is slim pickings at the moment, but once that weather cools after a stretch of rain, things will start picking up.

I went to a spot recently, a new one. Found... 1 ! but I just know there's going to be dozens, if not hundreds in weeks to come. It was such a perfect specimen as well.
