yeh first rains and abit of wind will set autumn in motion which has done today....temps gradually dropping at night maintaining 14-15oc with the odd spike as summer comes to an end, still highs of 20tho in the day @Suffolk, so why I predict mid September, by then it should be around 15-17 in the day, 14 or 19 being the odd possible spike.. either way I'm waiting early toward mid October where for sure temps be on avage 14-15 and say 11 10 at nigh and lowest bla bla  . spores from leaving the initial first fruits is important to you think? why I'm waiting til early onwards October this time,ya know at least give em a chance to spread some space probes out  , although my first hunts I was just eaaager to get at em..

you think we would all benefit leaving some for a few week to do there thing ? maybe result in more who knows. as in the first fruits of the season

will it , wish it , want it, or what ever it was that Brian said :mushroom2:,-na attract like magnet,,night hunts are just as mystical, does have its own story line to the adventurous situation, with warm welcoming narration from a full moon and stars llol, but i think I'm gunna take ma metal detector out on the beach instead.. clear up after everyone - lol

you maybe in luck , coz wales has started fruiting ish... slowly as it floods it activation across the county from head to toe

true... I was spotted by a very tofty type mansion owner that owned shit loads of land, he was with his lab dogs etc when he spotten me smoking a fat joint by a nice tree , looking at google map on my phone... if you claim naivety and ignorance you get away with it, you have to be honest , the more honest you are the more likely they let you get on with it.. which he did :-) ya don't nesecerlly-(lol , even spell checker wont work with that one) have to say magic mushrooms, but I'm just out picking mushrooms man, its my thing , gets me out in the lush fresh open air , I aint causing no harm, look I even have an id book so no harm is caused to my self or anyone else  - then they don't care, they more concerned about whether u gunna shoot their shit 2bh.. the point is I guess, the more paranoid you come across , the more it gives them a reason to suspect a lie.. just relax and be yourself about the situation if you get caught on private land, very worse they do is tell u to piss off, they don't cal the police cuase they know it would waste their time, coz by the time they arrive - as we all know just how slow those fucks can be, ya gone, vanished into the autumn mist ..

Totally agree with this, one of my spots is whats known as "commonage" but I did not know this at first because theres always some cows and or sheep left on it, so I was up there early one morning another year and i seen the farmer come into this commonage, thinking I was on this guys land I went up and asked him was I ok to be on this land for a hike, he said it was, and explained the land was commonage, and that he only owned one herd of the animals there, met him again up there this year and once he remembered my face there was no problems at all, guess I have it lucky where I am at present.

yeh just be honest with your intentions.. it relaxes the situation, coz most of the time they are more worried about pochers on their land shooting or stealing livestock etc.. to tell them your picking does nothing but gives relief to the owner. .. as I say, ya don't ever have to mention magic.. but I'm just out n about picking mushrooms, I'm tidy, I dump my rubbish in ma bag etc.. bla bla.. be straight up and don't panic - whats harm anyways of picking fruit from the ground.. none really, in all hien sight and honesty..

there was once a tricky situation at night, the bloody dog alarmed an owner living near by , back of the garden was this open field that use to have sheep on it, and yes.. one end had colonies , it was at night on my way back, I thought I have a check with ma torch, of course this startled the bloke he came out , so I thought I would walk towards him and explain what I was upto , at first he was on guard big time, I had to relax him as he didn't believe me, I was look, look in my container, mushrooms mate, nothing else, he was like ok carry on - after an intense 5 minuet stand off... but I didn't hang around after that, just incase. so still have to be carful certain places, as most of the time they think you are thieves or poachers .......... for them to know instead your out hunting night or day mushrooms is better than them thinking your some tricky cunt...
some spots have to be done at night unfortunately, as some of the land with horses is a different story... abandoned fields are my favorite though.. big sturdy liberty caps no horses no worries of horsy owners moaning etc and usually they are left to colonize the entire perimeter and center of the field.. - cant be bad! ...

Anyone seeing any Libs in Wiltshire and or looking for a picking buddy.
Not had much luck in my immediate local area, just finding boring common mushrooms ( and a couple of huge motherfuckers on trees ).

I'm not seasoned but have a good eye.

Cheers guys

your friend or you? I'm not going to answer to SWIM , I don't know who that is.. just be yourself and honest please.. matters not a fuck I ask this because you have over emphasized 'your friend'

its not... drying differently, has a full yellow transparentish haze over it rather than sturdy pale gold and strong stalk, also liberty caps or more fleshier, stalks don't snap like brittle twig  , that's my dismal observational description of it, but most types of mushroom have a nipple doesn't make them liberty caps , so don't go rely soly on that..... but once you find one you will never mistake them for another again so good luck..

edit : sorry if you know its not a lib and that your requesting general ID on this mushroom.. I couldn't tell you soz, someone else here will tho .. but doubt its active if that's what you wanting to know

The stalk was actually really flexible. When it was drying it dried in a weird way. Gold patches formed all over it and it shrunk. Then it got squashed. And it got thrown away. Also looking for a general Id thanks.

I'm 99.9% sure this is a Lib Cap. I would say 100% if you uploaded at least 2 pics.

No more picture necessary. That is 100% a liberty cap.

Anyone know if the season is on down in Hampshire. Wouldn't mind getting some for bestival next weekend if there available.

I'm used to the cold wet dampness of Ireland.

Also are Cyans common in the SE,  never managed a successful find in Ireland.

Has anybody had any luck in Northern Ireland?

Not one yet in any of my patches, they are common places for Libs so I've been thinking other people have got to them first. But like I say not even one yet...

Sup doods, this is my first post on here also.

Gonna be out having a walk near Ilkley moor in Yorkshire today. It's been raining for the last two days and is nice and cloudy today, hopefully all these little fuckers will be popping right out. Altitude looks to be around 200-300m above sea level, so if what I've read about high altitudes developing libs first is right, we should be in for a treat even though it's early in the season!

I assume actual moorland would be pretty crap for libs, as the heathery stuff would just take over any possible habitats, so I'm going hunting for slopey farmland NEAR the moor. It seems like a sweet spot really. Will post back with results.

Google maps scouting looks thusly:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I've removed the map, as that's really pushing the "don't give specific locations" rule a bit. If you want to do a map, make it cover a larger area, and don't center it on where you're talking about. If you're going to be possibly committing a felony, don't post evidence for the authorities on the Internets.
