Wonderful finds Repton. Oh how I would like to be finding those Anglerfish I think its a damaged stem showing the bluing and not an annulus on that specimen near the lighter.

Should the season in Ireland be starting very soon considering England and Scotland are starting now, surely we're the same?

Went out again, found lots of different mushrooms, so im taking that as a good sign. Can anyone identify the mushroom and tell me if the habitat is somewhere you would find libs http://m.imgur.com/uqJk4jy,YxQdNlJ,HDN6bXf

Panaeolus papilionaceus. And yes, you might find libs in the same habitat, but I suspect you won't find much before August. There will be a separate thread for Norway and the other Nordic/Baltic countries, whoever does the first find will start it...

I have been waiting for this post for ever!!! Kept checking the weather and think I'm going to head out on Saturday for a little stroll in my usual spot. Be interesting to see what you find Blazey - not too far from you. Keep me posted!

Hey, yeah I believe you're correct the one in the picture has a pinch in the stem. I occasionally find specimens that have a small ring of spores and or small but somewhat insignificant annulus where the partial veil has broken away during maturity. To my knowledge it's normal in P. Semilanceata but not a persistent feature.
Quote:
The mushroom has a thin cobweb-like partial veil that does not last long before disappearing; sometimes, the partial veil leaves an annular zone on the stipe that may be darkened by spores

Semilanceata spore prints ** If you're waiting on a PM reply don't worry I have taken a number of prints and should have these ready this week for trades/post, if you're interested in a print PM me and I'll work through them in order I can offer prints of the early fruiting spot that seems to start in July through to mid Oct and prints from specimens in my regular spots that tend to fruit later during the regular fungi season in the UK.

Yeh, I eyed that possibility. Well, be on the lookout anyway, especially those in closer contact with dung.

Thanks man, I practice safe picking, and I routinely check each mushroom before they go for drying.
All the pickings I have come from an estate house lawn where the grass clippings are always left after the groundskeepers have cut it, which I expect is why the liberty caps thrive in it. The estate in question houses a large collection of botanical imports from the victorian era, I lived there as a child been picking the same patch now for around 15 years makes me feel old.
I've eagerly watched the patch grow in size most years and it now covers a vast area, we're recording the fruiting times, temperatures and mapping the areas where the mycelium has spread, there seems to be two distinct networks at either end of the large lawn which fruit vigorously near the roots of a very large old common lime (Tilia europaea) at one end and a row of younger trees of the same common lime variety. Interestingly the mushrooms from this lawn are significantly different to those I find in wild un-cultivated areas in the same region, Though I expect this is due to the soil type and lack of any grazing while most other patches I harvest are in grazed or more exposed areas.
My partner and myself went for a walk there again tonight and collected another small helping, there are still silly amounts left as we were halted by the sun heading below the horizon. I'll post a pic.
