Just wondering people's experience growing T.Broncii(sp?) and/or san pedro. I just ordered seeds for both, was gonna get some peyote cacti, but I read that it takes a 15 months to be marble sized, and although I do plan on growing some, I think I'll wait till I'm out of this one br apartment for that. Anything from effects to growing tip/ general info will be appreciated.
I know I could search... but come on that way I don't get any social interaction, and you guys are my favs.

If you are interested in growing Lophophora start right away! They indeed slow and I wish I had not hesitated and had started growing them years earlier. Good luck!

Growing trichocereus cacti is extreamly rewarding If you have the means to properly care for them. They enjoy partial sun (under a tree or Bush etc.) and warm temps (60f+ minimum) in the growing season. Depending on your climate zone you will need to plan for winter frost. I live in northern Arizona, so during the winter months they are kept in my bassment. It's not heated and hovers between 25f-45f. The lack of sunlight and this temperature range allows them to enter dormancy. The dormancy period is not strictly required if you live in an area warm enough year round but is needed if you want your cactus to flower.
Trichs need free draining soil as they are prone to root rot if kept in wet soil for too long. I use a cactus soil mix from my local nursery mixed with 1/3 perilite. Also make sure to use clay pots. They are porous and allow for the exchange of water and air to and from the soil. Don't over-water. They are fast growing for cacti, but are still cacti. I water whenever the soil is dry (stick a finger in the soil a couple inches to make sure). Fertilizing is important too. A good cactus fert with low Nitrogen is what you want.
On to effects. I'm assuming your talking about the alkaloids they produce. Unfortunately this is the wrong forum to discuss this. Chech out the psychedelic experience forum. Lots of fun times there.
The information I've given is just basics. You will want to do research as you go.
One more thing, Don't forget to love thy trichocereus. Trichocereus will love you back

Thanks so much, perfect nugget of wisdom and experience. I can feel the love between me and my new cacti friends already! I live in Indianapolis, so I guess I'll have to do indoors in the cold months(and probably some months that we consider warm too lol)

Sounds like a plan. One suggestion I have would be to invest in a grow light. Cacti like San pedro etiolate when starved of light and will do so even if left by a sunny window inside.
Good luck friend, Would you mind posting some pics of your cuctus?

Better still invest in a greenhouse or glazed frame. All desert cacti enjoy daylight all year round. For many winter is the dry season and growth slows in the cooler, dry conditions - but they are not dormant - last year´s soft growth will be hardening and ripening ready for next season. I even get the occasional flower in January. The fact that you can put them in a dark cellar and they can actually survive says more about their toughness than your growing skills.

Right you are sir. Trich are hardy. A greenhouse would be ideal. Although I suggested a grow light because I'm sure a one bedroom appartment doesn't come with land for a greenhouse.
