Need as many tips as you can offer

I've done 2 grows in the past and both produced much less yield then possible. im now working on my 3rd grow (just sterilized my substrates, havnt inoculated yet). i was looking on google for tips when i came across a technique called "dunk and roll" (forgive me if im a complete noob). the guide im following dosnt mention this atall, and after reading about it i got rather pissed off that i hadnt heard about it before because it makes alot of sense. now i realize how little i know, and have begun to wonder what else im missing. im going to describe the process my guide outlines and i would greatly appreciate and tips or corrections anyone has to offer.
*skipping over all the tedious sterilization stuff, i know that pretty well*
step 1: prepare substrate: 1/4c brown rice flower + 2/3c verm + 1/4c water, mix it up, place into jar. stick jar in pot, boil for 1hr then let cool before inoculating. (this is where i am with my current op).
step 2: inoculate
step 3: wait
step 4: birth
*i dont think i need help with the steps above this point, but from here on in i feel that theres alot im missing*
step 5: place in incubation chamber. (i realize now that this is where the dunk and roll comes in and i will be applying it to my current op).
Description of incubation chamber:
Styrofoam box with hole in bottom for drainage. steel grill to hold cakes off of chamber floor. plexyglass 'sneeze guard' near the top to prevent moisture from humidifier from hitting the cakes directly. humidifier input above sneeze guard. humidifier is ultrasonic and is connected to 4 2L coke bottles inorder to dryout the output of the humidifier enough before it enters the chamber. lid on chamber with about 50% of it being plexyglass to allow sunlight in. i do not have lights, i literally rely on sunlight. i've seen many chambers without a humidifier, and using perilite in the bottem of the chamber without the steel grill- i have so many questions about this, i dont even know where to begin- so in short, is my chamber acceptable? should i be using perilite? the humidifier is running constant, is this overkill?
do you have any tips on how i should alter my chamber?
once their in the chamber, realy just let them sit and do their thing. they flush, they stop flushing, then they start flushing again, i do nothing but watch and harvest- all the time there is a constant humidity input from the humidifier. i now know that dunk and roll should also be done between flushes.
i usualy get 2-3 shrooms per flush per cake which seems realy low to me. usualy i'll start out with 7-8 pins, but half of them will grow half way, become slimy, stop growing, turn black and die. i never get the huge clusters of pins/shrooms that i've seen on youtube/in pics. its always solo shrooms (sometimes 2 in one spot) growing out of differant places in the cake. i've never depleted any of my cakes as in both of my previous grows, i had to go away from a significant amount of time in the middle of the growing process and water built up in the external coke bottles which very quickly builds up to the point where it blocks the hoses connecting the bottles to eachother and the chamber. thus the cakes dryout and die.
i think dunk and roll with increase my output significantly, but like i said, im sure theres a whole lot more im missing. my next op is going to be up to 48 cakes and i realy dont want to waste them all through inexperiance and lack of knowledge.
please, any help would be awsome.

Look up "Let's Grow Mushrooms" on YouTube. Watch it very closely. Then watch it all again, four more times.
A styrofoam box is not a fruiting chamber, this is:

One is only an idiot if one doesn't learn from their errors. No biggie. Check the other link mentioned as well. There's more than one way to skin this cat but some are better than others and have stood the test of time.

Make sure that you are reading relevant and newer teks, because what you've done is put yourself in prehistoric times. Google isn't everything but now that you have a grasp just keep learning!

alright, so 1 trip to crappy tire and one blown lower rad hose later, i think i have everything i need to build a proper birthing chamber:
2x 62L clear storrage containers (holes already drilled) 4x 8L bags or perilite 1x 24bottles of black label
i gotta say, this is much less complex then the caveman design (ironically)
just inoculated 12 jars that i made up using the caveman method (very similar to the method recomended, except that i packed them down moderatly) and am now sterilizing 12 more jars using the recomended method... starting to get that super excited feeling again

old growing chamber:

the cakes in here are old, driedout ones, and the discolouration at the bottem is rust from the steel grate

new growing chambers:

enough holes? or should i add more?

Holes are looking about right for that FC. My 66 litre took 344 holes in all.

You need a 2 x 2 grid on all six sides, including where the perlite will be. Mine allows at least two rows of holes on the side that are below the level of the perlite in the FC.
You may get away with a 2-1/2" grid. Catch up with your drilling as much as you can and monitor it down the road. If it isn't allowing enough FAE you can always add holes later.

k, im gonna add the lower holes now. if nesscary, ill add more rows between the current ones. im assuming if i add too many hole, it'll be too dry inside?
