Yes really. Nicotine alone isn't all THAT addictive - it's about as "extreme" as coffee/caffeine.. and has a similar effect. Cigarettes are far more addictive (by design) due to all the chemicals that are added.

Aren't MAOIs naturally present in tobacco?

I made the switch almost two years ago. Wow, it's been that long. I was a pack a day smoker and switched to AS roll your own to try and get away from the chemicals they use in packaged cigs. I stopped smoking the day I got my vaporizer and haven't had one since. I've even went as far as getting 0mg nicotine, no flavored juices and eventually stopped vaping all together. I have picked it up recently again, stress I guess, but am becoming more aware of how much power it has over me and to moderate my usages. I'm at 12mg now.

I smoke American Spirits and I also vape. I just trade off. I don't find road trips, camping trips, etc. to be all that vape friendly in terms of logistics, so bringing cigarettes instead is my preference. But here's something interesting to consider: The way a lot of y'all are describing cigarettes is the way I feel when I run out of American Spirits and have to bum a nasty ass Camel or Marlboro from someone. Just some food for thought.
also, this whole thing stinks to high heaven.

If you (all) are ever in a similar position, I have heard from a few ex-smokers that switched to E-Cigs that ~additive-free cigs like Winston, American Spirit, and especially Nat Sherman/Dunhill/etc. irritated their lungs the least. Even from a couple people who hated those brands prior to switching because they of how harsh they are.

American Spirit was my preferred brand when I smoked, and I couldn't smoke marlboros or newports etc either while smoking those. I smoked AS religiously for like 15 years. Blue or black pack. 1-2 packs a day. After switching to vaping, I can't even smoke a quarter of one now.

E cigs just became another delivery method for nicotine when I smoked. I'd go a week on the digital, then a week on the analogues.
They're not as good as cigarettes if you actually want that punch, but their convenience and flavor are nice.
Becomes silly when you do it daily though because after a while you realize you've acquired a new every-day-carry, and you have to charge it which gets old.

How in teh fuck did you go from 0mg and not vaping at all to 12mg? The fuck. Or I guess you are using a shitty vape pen?
I started on 18mg on the shitty ego pens, once I started getting into RDA and sub-ohm territory, I had to drop it way down.. went to 6 and then even that was too much so dropped to 3 and I run 1.5mg now. I don't really plan on dropping nicotine completely. Because the amount I'm getting is so miniscule but I enjoy the benefits I get from it. Yes, nicotine has many cognitive and physical benefits. But holy fuck 12mg would kill me right now. Maybe you should venture into sub-ohm land?

To each their own I suppose. But nah that's not been my experience. Ecigs became 500x better than cigarettes in every way. Cigs absolutely disgust me now. I'd smoke one if I was really fiending, but I would probably puke or come close.
What's not convenient to me is paying $3,500-4,500 per year on shitty cancer sticks that make me feel like shit and slowly kill me.
I vape like a fucking madman but my lungs have never felt healthier in 20 years. I can actually run. Didn't use to be able to run more than 5 yards while smoking without feeling like I was dying and hacking up a lung.
I make my own juice and build my own coils, so it costs me roughly ~100 for everything I need to keep me sustained with endless juice and coils for a year. A bag of cotton costs like $5 and will last basically your lifetime. Even if I blow through 30ml of juice a day, it's still only costing pennies. A $10 spool of wire will make thousands of coils
Batteries are whatever.. have a 4x 18650 charger that always has 4 batteries in it fully charged.. takes me 20 seconds to swap out the batteries. Have a RX200 which handles 3 batteries and will last 2 days easy if vaping at low watts, or 1 if going hard all day. Also can charge it via USB so I can just leave it charging while I work and it will last for a week. On the road I have a solar charger, and USB and 12v chargers, so basically nothing changes.

I seem to like the sedation of carbon monoxide for whatever reasons. I have always wanted to try steep tobacco in PG or ethanol out of curiosity though.

Yeah unless you just miss carcinogens.. But yeah WTA ejuice (whole tobacco alkaloid) (or NET - Natural Extracts of Tobacco) is soaking the tobacco in PG and helps many people who feel they aren't getting that "kick" they want. That's the other thing about vaping.. you can do whatever the fuck you want basically, when it comes to juice there's just so many variables which go into play. You can make/find any flavor out there. The WTA juice does has that extra "umph" many people seem to be missing. But I usually find when people find vapes lacking, they just didn't find the right device and juice combination that satisfied them.. which is understandable because there's ten billion fucking variables. It takes time to get everything dialed in for you. Took me a good 2 years to really get comfortable.. but it's easier now with all the advances in the industry, hopefully the regulations don't destroy it and cause it to go underground.
But yeah it made quitting completely painless for me. Went from smoking 2 packs a day to vaping and never bought another pack again. I've smoked maybe 2 1/2 cigarettes total since then like 4-5 years ago or something

Then allow me to rephrase that.. cigarettes contain many carcinogenic chemicals which e-juice doesn't have, or when it does.. is orders of magnitudes lower. EVEN when comparing NET extracts to cigarettes - http://www.ecigarette-research.org/research/index.php/research/research-2015/195-ecig-net The bridge gets even wider when comparing nicotine extract e-juice. Also no tar, no carbon monoxide, no hydrogen cyanide, no Benzene. And the tar is what really fucks you.

I've been back and forth between the two at least a dozen times now and theres no denying that the vape is a hell of a lot healthier.
Longest i made it with zero cigs was 3months. I started getting really stressed from work and bought a pack of marlboro reds. It made me feel so utterly sick, i had to take a break and sit down for awhile, or else i think i might've straight up vomited. I have no way to explain why the hell i still crave them though, it sucks.

Thanks for the info, I had never researched whether it was popular just bugged friends who make their own juice to steep tobacco I might have to get some and try with one of their ecigs. I bet making it with nicotina rustica or mucuna pruriens is good too.

I quit cigarettes last December thanks to an e-cig. I decided to roll up a joint with loose rolling tobacco the other day. Big mistake.. had to take a shit. I was shaking a lot. My stomach hurt. I was sweating a little bit. Also, it kinda made me hungry but maybe that was the weed. Fuck that. I hate tobacco. Stupid shit should have never been smoked by anyone. Cannabis is the way to go.

Nope your normal. I have completely giving up on cigarettes and only vape now. I would rather quit all together than go back to regular cigs. Using a good mod, RDA and high quality liquid FTW.
