Any significant uses for aborts?
    #23423314 - 07/08/16 11:39 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hey everybody,

So I just plucked my mono free of all aborts (tiny black head aborts) so I can dunk. When I picked them, a lot of sub came up with them. I'm wondering if there's any uses for the aborts/sub that got ripped up. Should I bury them outside or anything like that. I would keep them but they are way too small to put in the dehydrator, it would take forever to clean off the sub, and I'm curious what else I could use.

Also, along the lines of the sub sticking to the mushrooms when I pull them out, I just go ahead and put it all in the dehydrator. That way, once they're dry, I can just brush off the sub and it turns into a fine powder. Is there any use for this sub powder? I'm assuming not, and if there was (like an extraction) the amount I get after brushing my shrooms off wouldn't produce anything during an extraction anyways.

Thanks everybody!!

Eat aborts, or throw them out if you don't want to deal with them. You don't bury fruits to get more fruits. Doesn't really work that way.

If you want to dry them just put a paper towel down in the dehydrator and they won't fall through the grates

Well the only reason why I had mentioned burying them is because I have some spends mono sub buried outside and I've read a couple contradictory things here where people say pick them or they will rot, and others have said they will revert back to mycelium

Mushroom tissue does produce mycelium in the right situation. Cloning is taking fresh tissue and applying it to agar, so you can grab the clean mycelium in 2 dimensions and transfer off to a new plate. This affords you great opportunities, and you do this with mushrooms or pins that look promising. Doing anything like this with aborts is ill-advised, because you are cloning a mushroom that aborted. Doesn't give you good chances for the genetic lottery when you do something like that.

But really, it's like asking if you should throw fresh tissue into jars of grains. Sure, it might jump off at one point. But it will probably stall out and contam. No one would ever suggest you do anything like that because your chances for good success are comparable to winning the lottery. So eat them, or chuck them. Anything else is a waste of your time.

Blegh aborts. What a nightmare. To this day I haven't seen any insane potency differences between 3g of aborts and a sexy 3g fruit. They usually just end up getting blended in with the powder at the bottom of the bag

I think more and more, the story that "aborts are more potent" thing is getting debunked. I think if you have an experience where the aborts are more potent, it probably means they were about to grow up into some potent mother fuckers.

Regardless though, they DEFINITELY perform just as good a their weight in mature shrooms. So if you have enough aborts, it's definitely worth saving for the dose potential.

I dunno whats up with differing experiences about aborts but everytime I get to experience some, 2g of aborts felt really special and so damn potent as compared to regular fruits.

I dont even give em away. I keep em to myself.

I swear by its potency.. I dunno.. there might be a lot of factors at play here...

That's weird. 2-2.5g is my sweet spot with cubes. Same with aborts. Then again I do grow these days using only clones, and not MS.

1-1.5g PE for me. 2-2.5 for regular. This is for a chill, nice head space, visual, but not overwhelming trip. I used to think 7g was what I had to do every trip. Bringing it back a bunch really made it more fun.

About once a year though I pour about 10-14g down the hatch and go for a wild ride. But definitely can't do that kinda shit on a regular basis like I used to
