Is there a better strain than another?

I picked Golden Teachers for my first grow... got the spores from a site. I had no idea there were so many strains. The reason I'm growing is that I have C-PTSD and there aren't many resources where I live right now and my plan is to micro dose to alleviate depressive symptoms, even deal with flashbacks and dissociation possibly for the first time. I did try a gram from someone and they did me wonders if you want to call emotional flooding good. He kept calling them "golden caps" and I assumed he was referring to the golden teacher strain which is why I bought them over all the others.
Also bought them because they were listed as relatively easy to grow. Really just want a good potent all-around strain.

Almost all cubensis varieties are essentially the same in regards to the ease of growth and potency. Except for PE and APE. And those take a little longer to grow and are more potent. But the rest, for all intensive purposes, are essentially the same.
Good luck with what you are trying to do man.
Also, might want to edit the sponsor out of your post(if that is a sponsor name), because it is against the rules.
And idk know what that guy meant when he said golden caps but GT are a fine variety.

I think "strains" is kind of just a cannabis thing Its more like substrains or varieties. From what I understand a cube is a cube with the differences between substrains being mostly visual. Potency comes from your skill as a grower mostly with you playing with generics. Also read more

all of them are mushrooms and its genetics that will mainly determine potency etc.
as for the effects though, i DO believe different types have given me slightly different experiences. i love GT's myself. very euphoric and visually explosive trip which i LOVE.
all mushrooms are fairly awesome though. and for the purpose you are looking to consume them for, id say any variety of cube would do the trick id imagine (:
good luck buddy! and have fun (:

Actually, the definition of "strains" in mycology is when mycelium from one germinated spore mates with another compatable mycelia from another germinated spore. On their own, they are slow growers and are not capable of fruiting but once they mate, they become a "strain" and are able to fruit. A multispore inoculation has thousands if not millions of strains.
You are correct, "substrain" is the correct term for two different cubensis but most call them varieties, which is also correct.
Vendors only call varieties by the name of "strain" because it increases sales and it's totally inaccurate. For someone who doesn't know better, a golden teacher mushroom is a totally different type of mushroom from say, malabar. The vendors can only gain from such misinformation.

Golden teacher is a variety of cubensis. Most of the "strains" you had to choose from on whatever website are actually varieties of the same species of mushroom (cubensis). The varieties get different names mostly based on their geographic point of origin and sometimes have different physical attributes....a couple varieties are totally different (ie the KSSS and the Penis Emvy) but that was brought about by hardcore artificial selection over lots of generations.
Unless you start with PE spores or KSSS, there is no way to guarantee potency, and in my experience cubensis are not particularly mind blowing save PE....and when you use spores, as was pointed out there are thousands of true strains alive in the culture.....anastiomosis narrows down genetic variation in ms grows however through horizontal gene transfer.

On a more serious note, it's great that you are looking to naturally deal with PTSD. Dosing before a therapy session could be extremely beneficial.
Different varieties can possibly have slight differences in indoles and isomers. Even the mix of indoles in varying %s could lend to different experiences.
I wish more controlled studies and assays were happening.
Best of luck brother
