Yep, I've heard of Bohemian Grove.
Lets not go down the conspiracy route, and just stick to answering the questions please.

When I was growing up, I lived next to a river. One night when I was about 12 I was down at the river with my dog, fishing for eels. After fishing for a couple of hours, I decided to go home. It was a moonless night, totally pitch black. I'm stumbling up the riverbank through the long grass, and walking towards a stand of willow trees near my house. Next thing I became aware of a beating noise, whup whup whup whup. I turn my torch to my dog, who is behind me. He's sitting there looking beady eyed at me, like "what, I'm not making that noise". So I turn back around and as I do I catch in my torchlight the massive round yellow eyes of an owl, dropping down out of a willow tree flying straight at me. Whup whup whup whup whack. The thing flew right into my head. Seriously full throttle straight to the face, bam. Whup whup whup whup, off it flew. I just stood there thinking wtf just happened. Freaked me right out. I couldn't understand that it would have just flew into me by accident, owls being the grand masters of nocturnal aviation and all. Couldn't get to sleep that night, thinking that must have been some bad omen right there.
Still here today. Owls are OK.

Thats a killer story lol saint pedro.
my only experience with owls, is this. there are a few that either live near my house in the woods, or just visit frequently.
i can go out on the porch or in the woods nearby and either they are already making the owl sound, or i can do it with my hand and they will start .. there is usually anywhere from 1 close by -- 2 or 3 in the distance..
but as far as philosophy goes, i have thought about them, but i have never really came up with anything.
I get this idea that they are some sort of all knowing creature, they watch and they see so much that they are probably very wise creatures, but like saintpedro was saying how one flew into him, perhaps they are bad at doing and better at telling you how to do it lol idk.
what are your thoughts on the owl op?

wow, very interesting, thank you for sharing!!!
Definitely strange that it crashed into you, like you said, being the amazing nocturnal hunters that they are. Maybe it was after your fish bait. Did you scratch or rub your face after handling bait?

How long will they play with you after you start making the owl sounds? Until you stop, or do they usually stop first?

Usually if I initiate it they will go until i leave the woods, or just stop after a while if i dont do it back or there arent any other owls nearby to howl back at them.
One of my favorite things to do is to go out with my guitar and get them calling, and play along with my guitar, now for this i only have to do it once or twice and they will go for as long as i go back in.. although I will periodically call back to let them know im still there.
to me it sounds like a very lonely call, and i being the lonely person i am, find great comfort in the company of the owl .
I like to think that the owls around here like singing along to my guitar and also enjoy my company lol

I can't honestly remember. I always used bacon when fishing for eels. Funnily enough, the owls where I live are called "moreporks". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morepork
So maybe this one had gone one too many nights without delicious bacon. A kamikaze bacon fuelled rage owl, perhaps.

Haha, I was totally aghast when it happened. But it can't have crashed to the ground, because my dog would surely have had it for supper.
A couple of excerpts from the wiki article:
"their main hunting technique is perch-and-pounce". Well, that's reassuring.
"They hunt a variety of animals". True that.
"they are agile birds with a swift, goshawk-like wing action and the ability to manoeuvre rapidly". Yeah I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that one.

I just recently started looking into owls and the history of owls this past week after having some absolutely bizarre and synchronous events involving owls happen to me in the last week. After doing research, I see that throughout history they are tied into the ideas of being messengers of transformation, ufo's, occult history, positive vibes, negative vibes, good luck, bad luck, and all sorts of other things. Many of these ideas would be better discussed in the spirituality forum or conspiracy forum, and that's why right now I'm just asking for peoples experiences...
As of now, I thinks its a beautiful bird, which is just as unique as many of the other lifeforms on this planet.
You can always PM me if you have anything else you want to share about owls involving the above ideas....

When I was 18 the first animal I ever hit while driving was an enormous owl just standing in the middle of the lane. That's the only one I have ever seen.

What kind of lane was it, a highway, suburban neighborhood, country road? What did the owl look like? What colors, how tall was it, which way was it looking when you hit it? Did it land right in front of your car at the last second, or were you doing something, then noticed it in the lane at the last second?
Thanks

It was a backwoods country road. It was like midnight and it looked mainly white, but I don't think it was full white. It happened so fast I was shocked as hell.

I lived in Oklahoma some years back, there was an elderly woman named wynema who had quite a few chickens that roamed her property... My buddy Joey and I were sitting on her back porch one evening after the sun has set, but there was still enough light to somewhat see... A decent sized barn owl landed right in the middle of a group of chickens that were eating... The owl stood there amongst the chickens with one foot raised up about a foot or so off the ground, we just watched curious as to what he/she was doing... As soon as one of the chickens wandered near the owl, he snatched that sumbitch up by its neck and flew the fuck off with it... To this day it was one of the neatest things I've seen... It was silent also, for being such a substantial sized animal you never heard it's wings flapping during flight... Owls are pretty cool man.

I once had a dream of an owl at a nearby hiking trail. I later that week was hiking there and saw an owl... I was stoned and decided to follow it. It led me to a batch of mushrooms. Those mushrooms gave me an out of body experience and I was visited by aliens and taken into space. I was shown the beginning of time and had all of existence explained to me.

At Blackwater 2011... We were setting up camp the night before. there wa a little bridge thing with lights strewn across it.
At some point, I notice that this barn owl had perched itself on the railing and is watching us. silently. intently.
It must have sat there for some time. after a while i thought i could maybe just get a little closer, at which point it flew up to a branch and continued to watch us. I consider it a sort of Omen, I dropped L that weekend and experienced a moment in the future that ultimately came to pass, it was like some kind of 'divine' knowledge that was dropped to me. I recon I took about 2 hits, 400ug total given what i know today. It was VERY visual, and completely made me unable to use words and speach at the time, like it all came out as gibberish at times.

It flew closer to you at the exact moment you thought about getting closer to it? Very interesting.... And nice avatar picture, that's really badass. It ties the owl right into the night sky and stars. As if it's connected to something from space that watches you. Do you remember where you got that pic?
Thanks

I was in this wilderness program instead of real school for a bit as a little kid, we'd have normal academics but a lot of it except for math and foreign language was centered around nature, self-sufficiency, and all sorts of cool things.
Sometimes we had nocturnal nights where we'd basically 'sleep over' except there would be no sleep, we'd learn all about nocturnal animals, one night we dissected owl pellets(which is not scat, it's what owls regurgitate, mainly rodent skeletons - sounds gross but it's not too bad I guess) and have special handlers come in with some really beautiful species of owls. My favorite was the great horned owl - majestic as fuck.

What do owls symbolize? I have read about an association between owls and aliens, also owls representing Moloch, and they're a sign of wisdom, but I see owl symbolism a lot, and am very curious what they mean.
Can anyone elucidate the symbolism behind owls for me?

Athena, the goddess of wisdom and a guardian of the acropolis of the Gods was symbolized by an owl, and I believe that is largely how they came to be viewed as a symbol of wisdom.
I know other cultures also view them as a symbol of death.

I am obsessed with crows/ravens, I know they're associated with death too, and magick, and otherworldly stuff, probably why I like them so much.
But back to owls, there's a place in the woods around here which is covered in owl pellets, shits gnarly.

I suggest looking into the Illuminati and Bohemian Grove. I've been trying to figure it out too. It's pretty fascinating.

Genesis 8:6-9
6 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:
7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
Notice how the raven never returns. I've heard a sermon on this back in the day and I guess it's because the raven represents spiritual darkness. And even after God had destroyed everything, that darkness eventually found a place to reside outside of God's vessel. Take from it what you will, thought I'd share.

And even after God had destroyed everything, that darkness eventually found a place to reside outside of God's vessel. Take from it what you will, thought I'd share.
The raven, as with most Corvids, are intelligent birds, and found its own way in an abysmal world. I see nothing wrong with intelligence, but it seems like the majority of Christians I have spoken with, think that intelligence means you're anti god, I don't understand this way of thinking.
I have spoken with numerous Christians, and I would say 98% of them think free thinking means hell fire, this is a flawed way of viewing the world.

I suggest looking into the Illuminati and Bohemian Grove. I've been trying to figure it out too. It's pretty fascinating.
I have seen the video.

It's true, I see it that way as well. I believe wholeheartedly intelligence and knowledge is dangerous without wisdom. And in my opinion, that is all we are really here for, to cling to wisdom and deny knowledge in and of itself.

It's like this, for me, I know cocaine is good. But I'm wise enough to know better.

Owls are weird, in a kinda cool way.
iVe had them fly next to me in Hawaii when i lived there. I would be driving, owl flies by my car, looks back at me, peers into my soul, then flies off.
creepy but spiritual at the same time
OP, have u seen Legends of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'hole? Its the best owl animated movie ever made ever

An owl just landed like twenty feet from me in a parking lot. We checked each other out for like ten minutes total but he kept moving around. It was mostly brown with white spots and a white face.

That could have been a Northern Spotted Owl. You should have shot it.

No I haven't, but I'll check it out this week. I've heard of it. Lookin forward to it now....
I just went outside last night to look at the stars as I always do, and was thinking about this owl post I've started. I then heard a faint owl hooting in the distance 3 hoots followed by about 15 seconds of silence. It did this about 3-4 times, then I thought "wow I wish it was closer". Less than a minute later an owl hooted from what seemed like 20 feet behind me in the huge oak tree I was under. It was so frickin close and loud I could feel the bass from the hoot reverberate through me. I spun around and stared at where it came from and said "get closer". Nothing else happened.... I've never heard an owl like that. It's been an awesome week!!
