sub LC should work fine but cardboard can hide contams that are otherwise easily spotted on agar making it a less than ideal. Innoculating woodchip or sawdust with your LC might be a good idea, some contams that would quickly run over grainspawn don't like wood.

BRF will probably have a similar sucsess rate as grain since the source of nutrient is still grain. Try it though.
A wild fruit clone or spores to cardboard stands a fair chance of working, while mycelium from woodchips in a sub patch has much lower chances as IME they are contaminated with other fungus that runs wild the moment you put it on grain.
If you don't have any luck try your cardboard directly to woodchip, it doesn't even need to be sterilized.

Thanks weetsie. The myc growth was slow on cardboard after initial burst. So i moved some myc to a few differnt agar lc and wood chip. The LC seemed to react the quickest i think if no contam. Just inoc BRF and some chip. Seems really slow if not stalls.

If you are using it for outdoor projects you can do it just as easy with a contaminated LC. An experienced outdoor cultivator was explaining in a journal once how he just drops a bunch of spores in an LC knowing it will contaminate and then pour it on the patch he wishes to propogate. He says that the mycelium will do just fine more often than not. Molds and bacteria have a much harder time outside, if it was for an inside grow it would be doomed to fail.
