Greatest modern guitarists
    #23420442 - 07/07/16 02:47 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I hear a lot of people say Rock is dead and there are no real modern musicians left but I feel like these people need to dig around more.

Here are a few of the most amazing modern guitarists I have come across:

Nick Johnston | Silver Tongued Devil feat. Guthrie Govan

This song is special as its a Nick Johnston song featuring Guthrie Govan, absolutely amazing guitar work from both of them.

moe. - Silver Sun

Chuck and Al are Moe's guitarists I believe and they both are amazing and also have some of the best synergy out of any band I have heard.

The Brew - Voodoo Child Slight Return

Pretty solid hendrix cover from a great UK power trio.

--------------------
Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Trey Anastasio. That man's guitar work cuts straight to my soul. Only other guitar player that could do that was Jerry Garcia. There are tons of incredible guitar players that blow my mind every time I hear them. But Jerry & Trey both tap into something special that I can't define. And it floors me.

Jack White

Gary Clark Jr.

Skip to about 5 minutes in for guitar stuff, this guy kills it.

Hard to describe a 'greatest' guitarist. I'm only posting to add to the list that's been started, not to debate whether they are better than anything that has been posted or not.

no... sadly not. I was about 20 feet away from him though. was in the 2nd/3rd row from the fence. tried giving him a silence of the lambs VHS but he wasn't accepting anyone's gifts. :frown: was kinda like "party pooper" when everyone was screaming for an encore but he didn't come back out. oh well. he played a pretty kick ass show.

Steve Morse.  Currently the lead guitarist for Deep Purple, but he has so much more depth.  If you appreciate guitar as an instrument.  Check it out.

Chris Robinson Brotherhood - "I Ain't Hiding" - Mountain Jam 2014

Everyone in CRB is pretty great but I really love Chris Robinson and Neal Casals guitar synergy, Chris plays really smooth rhythm and Neal plays great lead :stoned:

Their keys player Adam Madougal is also very noteworthy, I really love his synth playing. Really nice tone and keyboard skills :awesomenod:

Saw Joe Satriani a few months back and he always rocks my socks off! Always has a dope visual show too

Kurt Vile has a very unique guitar playing style that I can't seem to get enough of. No shredding solos but each note is frisson worthy in my book.

And me!
