dude. find WBS without any corn, shelled nuts of any kind, and you'll be fine Fooman's WBS prep and go!! It's the cheapest and most effective for myself. the only thing I use my rye berries for atm is sclerotia producers.

As some people mentioned already... you need to dry your WBS. I simmer and strain and then lay a towel out on the kitchen floor and spread my birdseed out to dry for a few hours. You NEED to evaporate the moisture off the outside of the grains.
EDIT: and seriously... spores to grain is not a good procedure. When I first started using WBS I injected with spores and sometimes it took 3 weeks for the spores to germinate and by then other contaminates will also be growing. Many of the jars didnt germinate at all. Once I had one successful jar, I G2Ged, did a grow, took a clone, and started working with agar. This is the path you are going to have to go down also.
EDIT AGAIN:... and dont shake after a spore injection with grain.

No you don't. With foomans prep I load them wet sometimes to force that last bit of moisture into the grains

just give 'em a good shake to distribute the moisture. Honestly, once you realize how to get it right, WBS is the tits. If you find a good mix.

well... if you dont want them sticky before you cook them, like the OP is asking, you need to dry them. I think his main problem is using spores....
OP what kind of problems are you actually having? lack of germination?

they'd only be sticky after fooman's prep for a couple reasons. 1: there were hulled legumes or nuts in the mix 2: you boiled the grains. 4: or whatever the fuck number we're on, you released the pressure too quickly in the PC. :ricky:

No burst grains causes no sticky shit. Overcooking during simmering is the #1 cause of sticky wbs grain, and it isn't even needed with wbs.

Straight millet is actually more expensive than oats over here. Not that I would mind, a sack of grains lasts a while. I've just started playing with black oats a little as well. I love big grains too much to ever switch again though.
