No Sucess with WBS - WTF

I'm getting pissed with this.
I follow Frank's tek for WBS
Yes I have the right bird seed I follow the tek perfectly The grains are ALWAYS sticky after dumping them into a strainer after the water begins to simmer
I would still PC and inject my spores but after 5 batches I'm just frustrated. BRF has never failed but the shit is to messy and I want to be able to to G2G transfers whenever I can figure what the hell the problem is here.
Seriously I don't understand why the grains are sticky after everything is said and done. I know that's why it keeps failing overall.
What should I do?

if you have a rice cooker, just put in wbs and the same amount of water, put it on the "white rice" setting and wait for it to beep....perfect every time. Rinse it well first...should have added that

1. Try a new prep
2. Try a different grain
3. Fuck spores to grain
4. Smoke sum weed

honestly WBS is the shit. Just try and find a brand with no shelled anything.
no peanuts. no shelled sunflower seeds. nothin' but millet and sunflower seeds.
ideally just millet and sunflower seeds.
I found a nice, cheap supply at a local super chain. Every 1000th grain is a dry popcorn kernel, but I just chuck 'em.
Otherwise I'd sincerely suggest trying the much better grains; rye, rye grass seed, etc.
also, smoke all the weed you can. honestly it'll help.

Just not inoculating it with spores would increase your chances tenfold..

I recently had my first success with wbs after many failures. I think a big part of the issue on my first few attempts was that the grains were too wet at the time of inoculation. You want to let the hot grains sit in the strainer for a bit so they can steam dry themselves. I wasn't thinking and rinsed 'em in cold water right after simmering, so I had to stick my colander in front of a fan for 30-45 min (it still worked). I'm convinced that the water content needs to be right on for wbs to work, at least for the brand I use.
Probably an even bigger factor was, as others have already mentioned, that my first attempts were with multispore. I've now switched to using an LC.

Switch to whole oats... IMO they are much easier to work with...

Oats are fucking awesome, you will never see a clumped jar again in your life even if you are sloppy as fuck with your prep. Plus, it's still dirt cheap.

Two things. Number two is the most important in my experience.
1. Rinse the grains again after simmering.
2. You need to dry your grains. After the simmer and rinse and everything, you need to find a big baking pan or cookie sheet or something and lay a couple layers of paper towels down. Spread your birdseed out on the paper towels and let them air dry for a while. You can even blot them with more paper towels or put a fan on it to speed up the process. It should take between 20 mins to an hour.
I wish I could skip this step since it's time consuming and makes a mess but I've always had problems if I don't do it.

Wbs has small seeds...simmering tends to cause a lot to explode and gum up the grain with starch.
I start the initial wbs soak with hot water and skip the simmer...I never have that problem anymore.
You can also try adding gypsum if you haven't already...
The other cause of no germination is the starch coating the grain....it can take longer for spores to germinate...
You'd probably be better off with rye grain...it is slightly easier to nail.

Yeah idk, im with hybrid here. WBS is really starchy, and quite easy to fuck up the moisture content, especially with a simmer.
Soak and load is the easiest, noob friendliest way of doing it. And I haven't seen any differences between soak vs soak and simmer.

foo man prep for the win. Bring you water up to boil, turn off stove, dump in grain, let sit for 45 min or so and load up wet if you want to. I haven't found an easier prep for WBS.
I use WBS masters to oats and the prep on both of them is so easy! I wish I could get a couple grows up right now but I'm in the process of moving and don't currently have a place

Fuck that, just go to any livestock feed store and buy a sack of oats or rye if they have it. You will not be disappointed.

Huge vote for Oats (with hull on)
And Rye
And grass seed.
No cook WBS prep works. Starch is definitely your enemy. Also excess water
