Hello shroomery. Lookin into doin ps. Tampanensis and have ran into several threads I do not yet have access to because I need two more posts. I've learned that rye berries are the ideal substrate to begin with but am having trouble finding any. Will Doing it with WBS be worthwhile? I just wanna get some going seeing how they take a minimum of two months. And also I imagine the bigger the jar the better. Is this true? Thank you all and sorry if there sate familiar threads but as I said I'm trying to unlock my full access

Rye berries are the best, but WBS is a close second IMO. And they're called grain spawn, not substrates lol. You can use quart jars, they work just fine. Remember, the bigger the jar, the longer to colonize.

Grain spawns..... I knew substrates wasn't right. Thank you psilosoulful!! Think ill do couple pints and a couple quarts. This post should gain me entry to stonesuns logs. It seemed like every time I came across vital info I was unable to view it.

No problem , just make sure the info isn't too outdated. Tamps can be difficult to get right.
The only regret I have is not using straw/manure. I feel like my first attempt could have done better on a different substrate, rather than the standard coir/verm.

A substrate is anything you're growing something on.

Agar is a substrate too. Spawn is just a myco term for colonized substrate you'll be using to inoculate the final fruiting substrate.
