While a bic flame is enough temperature, the theory with the torch lighters is that they create enough ambient heat around the torch to vape your dmt without any contact with the flame. I don't think you're supposed to torch the ceramic directly, just have the torch near the bowl as you inhale.

I tried doing that with the torch lighters, and even then, the base of the pipe seems to get wayy hotter than just using a candle flame lighter and keeping the flame halfway in the bowl while inhaling. I've had super strong experiences off just 15mg, as opposed to 30mg with the torch lighter.
These are the type of lighters that I'm talking about

You guys pull the flame into the top of the GVG a little bit right?
Or are you really supposed to keep the flame hovering above the top and not let it go inside at all?
I usually pull the flame like a half-inch in or something while I inhale continuously. Do you think that would damage the ceramic? It's not technically touching the actual ceramic part.

With the candle flame lighter, it's necessary to keep the flame over the bowl, and inhale harder or slower depending on how big of a hit you want.
As I inhale slow, the flame hovers around the top edge and the spice melts into the mesh, then as the bowl begins to fill with vapor, I pull harder and the flame reaches almost 3/4ths a way into the bowl. After the bowl is filled with vapor and the spice is gone, I clear it all in one hit and bam!!!
But, from what I've read, the ceramic element is very durable and will not be ruined even if the flame touches it directly. The only way to damage it is to use one of those large butane torches and angle it directly at the ceramic at the highest setting. Other than that, it should last a long, long time. Vapor genie is the best!!
