Grows in the hot horribly mosquito infested woods in Savannah ga. In a dead tree. (Hardwood) I've heard they are good to eat. Yes?

Auricularia auricula-judae
Commonly called wood ear. They are edible. Not much flavor, really interesting texture.

I think pig's ear is a different mushroom-Gomphus clavatus
