Is it possible to get results from fruiting a monotub early?
    #23416132 - 07/06/16 06:54 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Will my monotub produce fruits at all if I take one of my 5 and switch it to fruiting conditions before full colonization? Will it be worth a try or just a waste of time & effort? ..
Just having some trouble and needing a boost. Circumstances
((Most People Suck)) by the way

 And let me also say this, since I added in the most people suck part... Most people suck most of the time. Most every one is cool some of the time as well.
You people rock!! Thank you for your effort. Its really cool that we humans have collaborated to create such a wonderful space on the world wide internet web. I'm sure a good amount of you are also honest, interesting and fun people in the flesh as well. . Thank You for what you do!

im sorry to inform you, but MOST people here suck too (:

theres a select group that dont...

anyway, as per question. id wait till its ready. full colonization will give you a MUCH better chance at keeping out contams and receiving real fruits worth the time and effort put in to get there.

edit - im stoned and stupid sometimes lol. i thought this was about spawning unfinished jars to bulk :p ignore.

I and several others put tubs right into fruiting conditions at spawning, 0 increases of contamination just faster pinning times, I haven't taped holes in about a year.

yep. :whathesaid: just make sure you have a layer over your grains; a casing or something.

I will definitely only be doing this with one Myco, if I do...

There's still some substrate showing. I covered my colonized WBS with a this layer of substrate at the time of spawning, so I hope that will be enough to protect the grains and that I won't need a casing. My tubs are only 6 days old. Is there any way to induce early pinning/fruiting? It is not necessary that I get the max amount out of this tub. I just need something...

You should really mix the spawn with the sub, and you can then use a couple handfuls to cover the top (with CVG)

I did. The tub consists of fully colonized WBS broken up and mixed with substrate and a very thin layer of just substrate on top. The Myc has risen through a good bit though already. If I put this one tub into fruiting, I'll capture a pic and post

BTW, what is CVG? Heh.. I'm new here..

So far, so good folks  They are almost an inch tall already in just that one tub. None of the other tubs have even started pinning yet. This must prove that light and/ or air flow does indeed trigger pinning, at least when the conditions were dark and still beforehand.

You can put it right into fruiting conditions. It wont hurt anything and might cause it to fruit a bit earlier. Ive put tubs into fruiting at spawning and havent noticed an appreciable difference. When they are ready to fruit they will. Good luck with everything.
