Most of us would probably do better than either candidate right now as far as good intentions But would get eaten up by more cunning that surround them in the government.

As a dictator I'd probably do fine, what would worry me the most is setting things up for when I'm gone.
In a "democratic" system, no. One big tedious lie.

Doesn't seem like a very realistic goal for most people. Your chances are probably better if you're trained as a lawyer, which I'm not.

I think I can say with some degree of certainty that no one who has ever posted on these boards will ever run a country.

hah this.
I could myself getting involved in local politics in an actual attempt to change something for the better. I think politicians generally fall into two categories - though I'm sure it's more complicated than that, anyways.
1. Idealists still naive enough to try to make a change that get bent over by the system or never really progress beyond lower or mid tier legislative jobs or who eventually turn into type 2. 2. People after power and prestige.
I think the people who get into politics with truly good intentions end up probably feeling more beaten down than accomplished, it seems like a very difficult job to stand up to the political machine and to try and really change the status quo. It's important, though and I'm trying to be more proactive and involved in local politics as of late - don't forsee myself holding any kind of office any time soon though lol.

Most people here can barely run a bath, not to mind hauling themselves out of the bath after eventually managing to run it and getting it together to run a country.

What if everyone able to on the shroomery buys lot tickets until someone wins, then we find the largest bundle of land we can afford
Or we could start a shroomified version of Scientoligists Sea Org sailing the world and stopping at ports to pick up shroomey people

I actually really like that idea even though I can't tell if your being completely serious or not
Just imagine all the hilarious "compensation" we could put for the various donation levels...
