Hey all,
I'm far from a new hunter as far as logged exploration goes. Albeit I am novice when it comes to life cycle, signs of, and planning ahead. This is why I come to you now.
In the last few weeks in CFL I have had the urge to get out and explore once again. I used to do it a lot more a couple years ago when I was in High school but it was usually hit or miss when it came to harvest. Naive as I was I didn't think that the lack of mushies could be due to the cycle of life. A bit wiser now. I come to ask a few questions, not only for myself but future hunters. We can all find tips and tricks for finding these puppies in perfect conditions but what about preemptive signs? HOW TO STUDY A FIELD THAT SHOWS SIGNS OF ACTIVITY BUT ISN'T CURRENTLY FRUITING?
For Example:
I'm on a field currently that has all the variables needed to produce quantities but I have only come away with small samples in the last 2 weeks(2-3 hunts). These samples are very nice but what should I expect down the road? How could someone plan ahead and possibly better understand the life cycle of the shrooms? I have found two strains, I believe PANAEOLUS CYANESENS(see photo), and P. Cubensis. Both strains found in separate locals on the field. The cubes were found newly matured whereas the Cyans were about a day late and partially dry. IF SMALL TRACES OF MUSHROOM ARE ON THE FIELD SHOULD IT BE EXPECTED THAT A NEW CYCLE OF THE SAME STRAIN WILL GROW IN THE SAME SPOT, OR EVEN EXPAND? I would think that if the mycelium has established itself than more fruits should appear as a new cycle of life?
Anyways here are what I believe are the partially dried CYANS

It is really sad because I've heard mixed reviews about potency and drying. Especially since I had seen the pins a few days previous and planned to pick them yesterday... but there were people on the trail and the cows really prefer that small corner since it provides coverage. I wasn't able to get out there until today and what would have been a glorious score of about 7 on a patty turned to be a semi dry kind of day. I was still happy because they should still hold potent and I've actually never found CYANS! WHAT WOULD YOU GUYS THINK IN THIS SITUATION? Would you consider the semi dry a loss? Perfectly FINE? Should I return to where I found these PANS in a few day and see if there is signs of new life?
IF YOU MADE IT THIS FAR.... THANK YOU and I hope to hear your wonderful insight!
