I don't have it yet, but want the Twilight app to filter out blue light after sunset. Rated 4.6 in app store; free:
Quote:
Recent research suggests that exposure to blue light before sleep may distort your natural (circadian) rhythm and cause inability to fall asleep.
The cause is the photoreceptor in your eyes, called Melanopsin. This receptor is sensitive to a narrow band of blue light in the 460-480nm range which may suppress Melatonin production - a hormone responsible for your healthy sleep-wake cycles.
In experimental scientific studies it has been shown an average person reading on a tablet or smart phone for a couple of hours before bed time may find their sleep delayed by about an hour.
The Twilight app makes your device screen adapt to the time of the day. It filters the flux of blue light emitted by your phone or tablet after sunset and protects your eyes with a soft and pleasant red filter. The filter intensity is smoothly adjusted to the sun cycle based on your local sunset and sunrise times.
I use something similar on my PC called Flux (also free).
Scanner Radio might be fun, it's a free police scanner rated 4.4Quote:
Alerts me per my request when 1500 people are listening to a channel, and if 150 are listening to a channel within 25 miles (all of which are customizable at different values) I've found out about many things by these alerts before news broke.

I read somewhere, that the Twilight App or other applications like that, negatively effect the screen over time. Causing to lose certain colors, screen with flicker etc.
Don't know the details or if it's true, but it's definitely something to look into.

Thanks I looked into it, but it looks pretty safe, cuts out blue which burns out the fastest in favor of slower, eye-comfortable red. I feel like it been better for sleep.

I used Twilight for 3 years on my Super AMOLED screened Note 2 with no noticeable issue. Colors are still punchier than the IPS LCD on my tablets.
(...) I just set it to automatically activate with sun times. So it's probably active for 12hrs.

What's this?
A great group chat app. I use it to stay in touch with several different close groups of friends around the country/world. Every time you go to an event, bachelor party, wedding or something you start one with all your homies that are there so everyone can throw up pics, chat, help meet up, etc. Then you even end up talking about the good times you had there for a while on the chat after the trip is over. You can hide posts if you want and adjust the notifications to suit your needs. You can also log on and chat from a computer. Pretty sweet.

I use Firefox a lot, including right now!
I really like Phases of the Moon. Its actually really practical.
For example, i can predict when my GF has a period based on the phase of the moon.
Also, Wormhole is an awesome gaming app. Must try acrade game.
Scientific Calculator is awesome, so is Unit Converter for turning grams into US pounds
Photo Lab is great for pic editing and Keep My Notes is a great notepad to write down random thoughts and ideas.

I really only use the Reddit app right now
Caller ID faker
Spoof phone calls....
Bad thing to do is.. If one called some one up under the police departments number from another city. When the other person answers hang up immediately after they say hello. Then when (they more than likely will) they call back the number it goes to the police department..
One could use the FBI phone number also... but it will just send them to a recording at first if they call back
Make one co worker call another co worker. That's always funny to me. Do it once a day. Every time when neither people are working.. then they start to get pissed at each other
