A question regarding the natural drying and the shrooms
    #23413143 - 07/05/16 09:41 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Sup guys. Had a thread here, and lately 'top fruited' mushrooms out of the jar. Have had some shrooms and already put them on the dish and placed in a dark place (where i used to put the jars during the incubation). Since the shrooms grow gradually, i use the same dish to place the incoming fresh shrooms so as to dry them alongside with their old counterparts.

They are a bit mangled and beheaded (for left for the prints). So i got two questions. Firstly, are these shrooms naturally drying and do so well without any risk of molding?
Secondly, how can one know if the fruit is dangerous to eat?

You need to dehydrate those to cracker dry asap. I'm glad you got some fruits from those jars . Remember me? :P. Getting a fan blowing on them would be better than open air drying. Fan them until almost dry, and then throw them in the oven on low heat for an hour or 2.

They're good until they get slimy or moldy. Fuzzy white is fine, but any other colors and you should toss.

And sorry I didn't reply to the last question on your last thread.. lol you either consolidate a week, or if it pins in the jar during consolidation, birth the jar the moment you see them

Sure  Appreciated. They are almost cracker dry just by having put them into the dark and not wet warm place, in my wardrobe
Regarding the owen, would it not kill them? I mean, even if the temperature there is below 75 it would destroy potency, would it not? I was thinking about 'teaing', and the already dried i believe are fine for that

That info is false. Psilocins melting point is at around 360F. Psilocybin is over 400F. Heat is actually better. The real cause of oxidation is the enzymes present in the fruitbody. They are active in the presence of water. UV Light also breaks it down, but in a different way.

Heat or pH will denature the enzymes, and they'll stop oxidizing the actives. Believe it or not they're actually exchanging hydrogen atoms, not oxygen. Water just keeps the enzymes (reducing agent) activated. That is why most growers use a dehydrator on max temperature (~140-160F) to dehydrate them properly, and retain the most potency.
