Are contaminants lethal?
    #23406434 - 07/03/16 09:17 AM (7 years, 7 months ago)

Hello. So... some people are going crazy about it and telling me that I will die because the contaminants will get into the air and stuff... how true is this?

If you have a history of cancer or aids and your immune system sucks it is possible. But for a normal healthy person, not possible.

Compromised immune system people shouldn't even go for a walk in a forest

Look up "Sick Building Syndrome" (SBS). There's some interesting stuff done in studies over that last couple years. SBS has been around as a "blanket" diagnosis but is being study again more closely. It's mostly common sense stuff. If you're around harmful things more often the odds of you getting sick is greater. Whoaaaa, ground breaking stuff, lol.

OK, so the stuff that is groundbreaking is there are studies showing certain combinations of VOC's and molds and/or bacteria are more harmful than they are by themselves. The VOC's (volatile organic compounds) are ones commonly found in homes from off gassing of all sorts of stuff like new furniture, plastics, sealers on carpets, etc.

There hasn't been anything that I've seen showing lethal effects in healthy people. The effects are stuff like headache, coughing, increased risk of asthma. Small things that slightly compromise your immune system and could leave you vulnerable to more serious ailments.

If you're healthy you shouldn't be worried. Also if you're doing everything right you shouldn't be concerned about contaminates because there won't be any

I'd like to think I'm smart enough to realize how much knowledge I don't have.
