Kratom induced epilepsy

I have been using kratom regularly for about 6 months now and recently had two seizures, both of which I was hospitalized for. Kratom induced seizures seems to be a pretty controversial topic, and i just wanted to weigh as advocate to the side that believes kratom CAN cause seizures, it has hhappened to me twice, I'm currently trying to back off of my dosing to avoid any withdrawals until I can quit for good. I also had elevated levels of lactic acid in my blood, as well as low potassium levels (hypokalemia) which i imagine are side effects of the regular kratom use. Im now taking anti seizure medication just until i get off the kratom for good, it may be good for some ppl but kratom is all bad for me.

Glad my mj dispensary did not get in trouble (going through the pain of legalization here) because I need weed for chronic pain...
Never tried kratom, but I am not drawn to it... I like the clean highs and pain removal from weed.
Have you considered weed? I assume you take kratom medically, and you take it daily? How much? How do you consume it? Any other drugs (legal or not legal)? Family history on seizures?
Share a bit more info please.

Other opioids like tramadol and fentanyl lower seizure threshold so its not too far fetchted that kratom does aswell.

How much Kratom and how often?
I recently got a couple ounces of Kratom and I take about a gram once every couple days. It's a mild stimulant/euphoric buzz that lasts a couple hours. I like it but I really want to keep it to a minimum- don't want to get dependent on it and I really don't want the skin on my face getting dark (not sure if that really happens).

hypokalemia itself can lead to seizures. Have they associated the use of kratom with the lowered potassium levels or is that an assumption on your part? I'm not saying you're wrong and it's probably a good idea to curb usage anyway, but you might need to look into the cause of the lowered potassium levels independent of your usage.

I am currently down to around 10grams a day, but I was getting out of hand and taking up to 30grams a day. That's what was giving me the effects I liked. If you keep your usage low and not do it every day I imagine you should be fine. I think I was over doing it.

No family history, also no other drugs legal or illegal. Just kratom. I am going to look into mj products as an alternative for pain relief.

Not sure if the hypokalemia is an isolated incident or not, but its never been an issue before, so i am assuming it's a product of krsatom use. Im supplementing potassium chloride tabs as well as antiseizure meds now

Did you buy your kratom from a legit source because i have heard that some kratom is cut with other herbs or even laced with drugs.

Yes it was legit. I always bought 30gram bags of meang da powder or white vein borneo if the store was out of maengda. The first seizure I had happened after I bought red vein Thai for the first time so I thought it was just a disagreement between that specific type of kratom and my body, so i didn't buy red vein Thai anymore after that and stuck with my 15-30grams of maengda powder a day (not taken all at one time, normally taken twice a day totaling 15-30grams) and I was good for another couple months but just a few days ago I had another seizure and I've only been taking maeng da. I think I'm just prone to seizures and any kind of kratom can cause them. But the point is I did not previously know that I was prone to seizures, and I used to be addicted to heroin and still never had seizures even when shooting heroin. So it can happen to anyone really, its a gamble whether kratom will cause someone to have seizures. I'm only posting just to put some informed experience out there on a cloudy topic, this is something that anyone who is doing research needs to know about and consider before trying kratom. But also, infrequent low dosage users prolly shouldn't have anything to worry about. Like I said, I never had any problems until after about 6months of daily use, with my dosage getting pretty high (at least I thought) at up to 30 grams of powder a day, always mixed with chocolate milk btw Thas the only reason I was able to tolerate downing all that nasty ass powder lmao.

Gave me the jitters and shakes sometimes. There was an increase in that side affect with increased dose. Sometimes vision would even start shaking back and forth.. Stay away from all opiates/ opioids unless you are in "dying of cancer" type pain. This is my take on it. They are life ruiners. We've lost some of the greatest human beings on planet Earth due to the opiate addiction/ disease.. Opiates/ opioids could very well destroy your life if you don't get away from them. You are not exempt from that demon. Don't fuck around. Do whatever you can to get off that shit, even though it may feel like the hardest thing you've ever done.. Don't let these kratom ads fool you. It MAY be a better alternative to IV heroin, but it works on the same receptors. Same chains my friend. Don't get caught too deep!

Even cannabis can cause seizures in a rare group of people
As with everything being careful to hot overdo it is important.
I personally dose low daily with kratom and get very little to no negative effects.

Kratom being sold with synthetic cannabinoids added to increase/ alter its effects.
They probably buy bulk cheap shitty kratom then spray it with cheap chemicals to make more $...
