None of My Agar Plates Look Rhizomorphic...Problemo?

My plates are all looking very healthy so far but I have not seen any rhizomorphic growth and this is with 4 different vendor "strains."
Is this a potential problem? Is it the PDA I'm using? Or, the high amount of condensation/humidity in my Pasty plates?

Don't be disheartened, what you are calling "strains" are actually varieties. When you start inoculating agar with spores it is very common for the early generation plates to have more fuzzy looking mycelium than rhizomorphic....as you make transfers and start narrowing down the strains in the culture, the rhizomorphic strains will start making themselves more and more evident...obviously look for some kind of rhizomorphic growth when you ,ale your transfers but for the parent plate really just try to get a clean transfer first.

rhizomorphic or tomentose growth makes no difference. you'll see same culture looking more rhizomorphic when there isnt thousands of strains growing together or if you lower nutes on a plate. this doesnt mean the cultures' genetics change.

So, how much do you lower the nutes? Are you familiar with Munchauzen's PDA formula...1 gram honey, 2 grams agar, 3 grams potato flakes, 1/2 cup water, pinch of yeast powder.

that sounds like a pretty rich recipe to me, but nothing's written in stone since we're all growing from spores getting different genetics. try to half it (not the agar tho) and see what happens. but as I said it doesnt really matter, tomentose plates can go rhizo when they hit grains and opposite. just learn to appreciate healthy fast growing myc, and not rhizo myc.
