Where things really seem to get blurred
is body painting
scarification
neck rings
stretched lips and ear lobes etc.

and the 'civilized' versions
tattooing
piercing
purple hair
etc

to say nothing of so called
cosmetic surgery
and of course
make up
costumes
etc.

there was an artist who covered naked ladies in paint
and had them writhe across the canvas
and sold his shit
was in the film Mondo Cane I believe, back in the day.
A modern day version of such huckterism, with high stakes is Jeff Koons.

weird species, homo sapiens

meanwhile some do science
perhaps with inspiration and objectivity
