Revolution 3

Today represents revolution to me; not patriotism. This day signifies rebellion against the corrupt not subscription to them and their system. It's a day that represents an event that inspired many other people across the world to overthrow their colonial oppresors.
Maybe one day it will be inspire that again. Though I kind of doubt it. Time will tell though.
The Fourth of July has kind of served to reinvigorate my revolutionary and anti-American/elitist spirit for years. I think growing up in Hawaii kind of started it. In Hawaii the 4th is seen by most as a day of infamy. It's kind of like celebrating your stepfather's birthday even though he raped and beat your entire family before kidnapping you all and forcing you to live by his rules... So while thy did have fireworks on that day patriotism was not only looked down on, but could often be met with hostility.
Anyone else feel what I'm saying?

Ungrateful? I'm grateful that I got lucky enough to be born in one of the best countries on the planet in terms of its citizens' quality of life. That said, it doesn't excuse or erase all the terrible things this nation did and continues to do.
It doesn't change the fact that we are all slaves to the elite and their systems of control...

lol I mean it makes sense I doubt the original revolutionaries would be terribly happy with the america of today (though it could be much worse admittedly)
I dunno how likely further revolution is anytime soon though, people aren't nearly miserable enough by and large imo

well said. It seems to me a true patriot is not complacent, but would always seek to make their country live up to its values and be the best it can. That said, celebration has a place too, we can't all be grim revolutionaries all the time, where would the fun in that be?

True that. I actually doubt it will happen. I had high hopes for a rebellion for years. Then a few trips, one in particular where I watched Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, convinced me otherwise. Unless the elite choose to take a big risk and either try to eliminate us or don't take care of the millions who will become unemployed due to automation there will be no revolution.
The elite will most likely take care of the unemployed and take more secretive measures to control the population...

yeah, I think things would have to be really awful to get to full on revolution anytime soon (like full on environmental collapse followed by global chaos), and by that point the human race would probably be fucked anyway so I guess enjoy what you got

Today Represents an illusion of freedom crafted to keep people living in ignorant bliss.
We're not free, we're probably not even separate from the powers that control us, they just simulated all of it to keep people docile

'And standing there, facing the pure horrifying precision, I came to realize the obviousness of the truth. What is the Matrix? Control. The Matrix is a computer generated dream world, built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into this.'

On the real though, The Matrix deserve to be a cult/religion way more than stupid ass Scientology does...

336, I remember you being a hardcore patriot that was always talking about joining the marines. When did you decide to go full throttle with the anti establishmentarian rhetoric?

I was never a hardcore patriot I was just someone who was planning on enlisting for the benefits and the money (a mercenary if you will).

Oh, well good for you then I guess. I'd say that it takes a real dumbass to kill and die for a government you're not patriotic about, but it sounds like you've come to a similar conclusion

Oh, for sure. Didn't mean to imply in any way that I support mercenaries.

We all kill for money; maybe not directly but the extortion money we pay (taxes) goes to fund the military and various other government agencies that kill people everyday. Same holds true for the money we spend on drugs that end up in cartel or gang hands that helps fund them and allows them to go on killing as well.
We're all guilty, we just pretend we're not. Just like the people who eat meat and ignore the life that was taken in order to have made it possible.
It's all connected.

We don't kill for money then buddy, if we're the ones paying them, not getting paid we're not killing for money? We're doing the opposite lol.

Don't you see? We work for money. We pay taxes. Those taxes fund the killing of thousands each year... We are responsible, despite how disconnected we may be from the actual act it is because of us collectively that it occurs.
