Mushroom Humid House * 1
    #23410982 - 07/04/16 04:36 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

It took about a month to physically build this 15'x28' fruiting chamber. Much longer for planning :takingnotes:. This pic doesn't show it complete, it has an air intake on the front and the trim is painted.

We poured a slab and tried to get it to slope towards the drain in the back center. It got a little fucked but most of the water goes to the drain, saddly some goes to the back of the house. :poop:

We welded bows of steel and mounted them on the cement.

Used a rigid foam insulation and screwed sheet metal over the whole building.

Ran plumbing and electric to the new building. It has a 1200BTU AC. The barrel has water and a pond fogger. Timer set for intake fan and fog to come on at the same time.

Cool stuff. do you have pics of the other parts of your setup? I think I see drum sterilizers and another GH in the background of one of the pics

You must be talking about this picture.
This is a seasonal fruiter that was fantastic in the spring but now it's way to hot and the slugs, fungus flys and more have found it. I was getting 13 lbs of oyster mushrooms a week from this space. It's built from scrap wood, has shelves with painted wire bottoms. It's covered with greenhouse plastic, and the cooler is just like the barrel with a fan moving air over fog into the room.
I'm have Reishi blocks in it right now but the pests love it and I am having trouble marketing Reishi's so it's being neglected and my focus is on filling up the new space with mushrooms people want.

Nice room. Whats your ceiling height, and are you running misters to?

10'4 at the highest, 6' on the sides.
Just spraying the room down when humidity is dropping. The fogger does not keep it high enough, the fan and fogger are on a cycle timer set to go off for 2m every 15m during the day. Going to add misters soon so I wont have to spray the floor. Humidity has been between 80% and 95%

Looking legit as shit! That mask isn't doing shit. You need a HEPA mask, get a 3m Half face mask with P-100 filter. Luckily your spore load doesn't look too much in there so no harm done..yet.  I highly recommend the following misters on a short cycle timer and use a solenoid valve to control flow. I run mine 5 seconds on every 20-40 min, then i turn it off 30-90 min before harvest and drop the fogger bucket RH to 80s. Do you have a purge line on your pail? If not, over time you water will harden and build up scale fast.

you will also need a anti drip on each head

start the video at 1:40. Like i said im doing 5 seconds on 20-40 off and keeping RH around low 90s. With logs i had to keep it around low 80s or id see bacteria, sterilized bags can take a lot more RH without and bacteria outbreaks.

also a video on the dangers of spores including the mask i recommend, there cheap and replace the filters every 30-90 days.

Hey GrOwer very cool humidity control setup. Wasn't aware of those fogger and anti drip pieces. lots of useful info.

I'm curious, what is your thoughts on humidity controllers or humidistat controlled fogging versus timed?

Gr0wer, Thanks for all the good info, I appreciate the links and your videos are awesome. What is the scale device that you have on your misting system?

Following this to get it in my thread list. I'm shortly setting up an out-building as a fruiting chamber. It's smaller than yours. 12'x18' with a shed roof. I've been slowly renovating it. I'm hoping I can get it done in time to get at lease a couple grows in over the summer and fall.

Looks great JW! I love the welded structure and the pitched floor with drainage. I have room to create a pitched floor in my building but I don't have anyplace to properly drain it. I can drain it but I can't get below the frost line so I'd have to deal with freezing over the winter if it collected a lot of moisture.

I'd like to think I'm smart enough to realize how much knowledge I don't have.

It's an anti scale device from lowes designed for swamp coolers. I honestly don't know how well it works. I believe it is basically a water softener. One thing is for sure you need a 200 mesh or finer filter to prevent the foggers from clogging. Buy spare anti drip and fogger heads as you will need to replace them from time to time. The heads you can break apart and clean, the anti drips you cant.

You could use foggers to bump RH with a controller but you would probably want less foggers and not pointed at your fruits. You could locate a fogger inside your ducting or humidity pail or between rows. If you have the foggers like i do you would oversoak the mushrooms as it takes a while after the foggers activate for the RH to climb.

@Grower. Hey man, I think I'm going to get started with the misters now. Wanted to ask you about how many you would use in 420square feet? Do you think two rows of 4 would work? I have no idea really. Wanted to get your opinion before i ordered.

With your misters mounted high you should be able to spread em out a bit. I would say one 4 head fogger every 4-6 feet. Mine are every 2' but my chamber has a lower ceiling.
